Is it ****. You clearly don't understand how the club recruits these days. The facts are we've signed 14 new players, each of whom had either barely kicked a ball or not kicked a ball at this level before. It's because we sign "potential" and aim to improve them. What we need to do is hope we get enough of them good enough, quickly enough to get the points we need.
It was obvious from Conor's first pre-season games, we had the best midfielder in league one. It just took 9/10 supporters another year to realise it...
Piece of piss from the stands, football management. He sees them every day in training - listen to his interview today - they're on a learning curve.
Doesn't take a genius to see that Potts and Moncur aren't good enough in a three man midfield so how would they be able to cope in a 2 man midfield? Potts has actually grown on me slightly but I still don't think he'll be good enough.
So go and ‘support’ United then! It’s all about having realistic ambitions. Mine are to once again punch above our weight and survive in this league. People arguing that the ‘money’ argument is getting tiresome. It’s a FACT that most teams can spend more on players than us (at the moment) therefore they can buy better quality players. We are where we are. We aren’t Bolton, and I certainly can’t see us being another Rotherham as some have predicted. And as for the ‘turgid’ Football, the only evidence of that I have seen was at Preston and we got a point there!
It's not as cut and dry as poor tactics or players ineptitude, although, this could play some part. What you've got to stop for a moment and think is, is this currently our strongest team or should we hypothetically get better when Isgrove, Cavare, yiadom et al are fit? Not an excuse just an observation. Maybe the plan is to go 442 with Mcgeehan and Gardner in the middle of the park and Isgrove and Hammill out wide? Who knows until we are all fit and firing. No-one on here can tell me Pearson will be first choice left back when Yiadom and Fryers are both fit and firing, at least you'd suspect not. This is a very young team, conforming to the recruiting profile we have. It's already been said some will work and some wont. I still think Hecky needs time and patience. He's learning too.
For anyone who's been sad enough to listen to fooball heaven this evening, this thread has been referenced.
Got to say the switch to 442 at half time after controlling the first half and leading was a little bit bonkers Not changing back when it became obvious it wasnt working and realising we couldn't string 2 passes together was even dafter. Who's idea was it to go into a season without the correct players to play our main 2 formations. Midfield not good enough for 442, strikers not good enough for 451
