Sinn fein was the political wing of the Ira from it's foundation, this is why it was borne. Even Gerry Adams will tell you that. This is not remotely up for debate. Many of it's politicians and councilors are/have been members of para-military organisations. I know what i'll do to highlight the troubles, i'll attend a rememberence event to celebrate the lives of 8 terrorists and observe a minutes silence. Yep that's all about peace that is.. Bonkers response in the face of increasing and factual evidence.
He sympathasied with the IRA and didn't condemn the Brighton bombing . That's enough for me, he's a commie and a dangerous fraud. I can't be arsed entering so called political debate but how anyone can vote for this man is beyond me . In a way i hope he gets voted in cos that's the only way he can fail . Don't be fooled by the promises we've been there before with Labour.
You have provide no evidence. I have proven that you cannot prove a hypothesis Your evidence. Meetings Smiling faces Republican. You tube where Corbyn condemns violence Source used youtube. The Labour movement was borne out of the Chartists. They are separate organisations. You get that don’t you. j. Two well known terrorists.
Let's ignore the evidence, which is pretty damning shall we. Just because you love him so much. Friedrich loved Adolf in a similar way. Disturbing.
Gerry's not a terrorist then?.. Lovely man definitely up there with the saintly and much loved Nelson Mandela. Funny how Nelson had the grace to forgive and unite a nation as one.
Try typing Irish Potato Famine Which government made the callous decision to systematically starve the Irish people ? No wonder the hatred still burns and Corbyn was instrumental with Mo Mowlam in forging a lasting peace process still holding to this day. But no, better to follow a right wing media agenda and refer to him as a terrorist sympathiser !
I know I'll annoy some of you with this, but there was a game on tonight. I realise I'm supposed to ignore posts that don't interest me, but do you lot really enjoy such debates on here during a match? To me, it's a complete load of utter incomprehensible drivel on all sides. Why on earth do you all waste your time on it? None of you will ever change the others' opinion, so why not just enjoy the match?
I will consider any evidence when you present it rather than your opinions. Thus far we have Public meetings Smiling YouTube Belief in a United ireland Supports Democratic Party. I am far from a Corbynista though think he is an improvement over Miliband what I dislike is people passing off lies as truths and their opinions as facts. I think she might be smiling. Obvious terrorist sympathiser.
Again you havn't read my posts. I have stated I am an old fashioned socialist with 'pinko liberal' tendencies. If you look at my historical posts you will see that as a long standing nhs staff member I loathe the Conservative party passionately. I do not tolerate discrimination. So a right wing agenda is anathema to me. The potato famine/land clearances etc was carried out by the landed elite, the aristocracy. The country was ruled by a hundred people who gained their status through right of birth only. You and I and everyone else did not have a say: we didn't have a vote. It is obvious why the Irish dislike us and they have every right to do so. It should be why they disliked us. One cannot hold every German born after 1940 responsible for the war. Mo Mowlan was an incredible woman, truly inspirational: her only agenda was peace.
The cause of the IRA (unification of Ireland) is not murderous in itself, but the means they chose to use for that cause were. It is entirely possible to support Irish reunification without supporting violence. You could argue that the IRA made more progress towards their aims when they stopping killing people on the mainland and started targeting business (Canary Wharf, Bishopsgate and Manchester bombings killed 3 people but caused ~£2bn worth of damage and loss) - a lesson that ISIS may learn one day. Married to an immigrant and living off the state. The Queen and her children must be a target for the frothing xenophobes...
Oof. Fair post. My honest opinion is that I don't really enjoy it, but almost everything I do in my life, including the 60+ hours a week spent running my business and a considerable amount of my free time, is done with an eye towards working towards what I consider to be social justice. Jeremy Corbyn becoming leader of the Labour party is the closest that we've come to having a government which even approaches what I want a government to do, and I find it really difficult to avoid rising to the challenge when people insist on regurgitating the media's slurs against him. Sorry that it annoys you. I wish I could ignore it but, honestly, I think that fighting this kind of stuff is far too important. Maybe I'm not going to change the opinion of the person with whom I'm arguing, but if it's left there unfought then anybody might come across it and think that it's received wisdom rather than just one side of an argument. Just my feelings. But then again it also bothers me if my posts piss people off, so that's something to take into account.
If it happens in my local I just go and sit in a corner with my pint and ignore the debate. We're all different and obviously we all have the right to post what we want, but during a match??? The thing that intrigues me is that nobody ever wins. Ever. It just goes on and on and on until somebody nods off. I'm sure you all enjoy it but all your opinions will still be the same after hours or even days of debating. It really does intrigue me!
The fact is someone attended a public gathering the rest is your opinion. Someone smiling and you making an inference from that. The smile is factual. The rest is your opinion. A fact is someone expressing republican beliefs. Your opinion is that this makes them support terrorism. This statement may or may not be factual in the first place. A fact is someone saying they condemn all violence. Your interpretation of this is they do not condemn terrorism. The statement may or may not be factual. Your opinion of its meaning is just that an opinion. Someone supporting a democratic political party may be factual. Though of course that support may or may not be qualified and of course that support may or may not be genuine. Your opinion is that this means they support the roots of that political party and any actions they may have previously done. I guess first degrees don’t teach us much in terms of empirical analysis. Happy to help.
To be fair my only contribution during the match was a single ten word post! But like I say, it's not necessarily about convincing the other person. Many more people read posts than contribute to them, and I think it's important that they see both sides. I'm not sure I've ever actually started a political debate on this board - I suspect that if nobody ever responded to initial posts then anybody idly browsing the forum would be the unfortunate recipient of a lot of right wing invective.
