We would be up the creek without him. He's the only player with height and strength that gets forward - hence balls knocked high are usually aimed at him when he's in a forward position. Plus he offers the only threat of driving forward from centre midfield.
You couldn't be more wrong . Hes disruptive to our team. Ive never known a player get in the way so often
He absolutely did look knackered. The lad needs time to get his fitness up to the standard required - 4th Division fitness compared to 2nd division is a massive step up. He will only improve this with game time unfortunately it seems a lot of supporters won't grant him the patience required, and demand that he is a fully experienced and competent 2nd division player after about 8 games. Hourianne was a world beater for us in 3rd division after 8 games.
I dont think he had a particularly good game last night but he did take a bad knock in the first half which may have effected him , however , some of the treatment that some of the fans dished out to him , is nothing short of disgusting
All the new players (vertually the entire squad) need time.....we all knew this at the start of the season. 95% of our squad are still learning their trade at this level. Potts is a talented individual...who has limited pace...he needs to probably learn a bit quicker than some others but i still think he is useful and does do some stuff that others we have cant...hecky obviously likes him.
At least Hamill forced a save. Summat that's been rarely seen in recent games. My main gripe with Pott's is that he looks so knackered. Walking about blowing, hands on hips after an hour. Not a good look.
And Potts put 2 great balls into the box 2nd half. The point I am making is the whole team isn't good enough but folk like to single players out. They are all trying, one of the hardest working reds side I have ever seen. We lack quality all over the pitch and as you rightly point out lack a threat going forward.
I thought Adam looked more like the Adam of last season, frustrated, trying to do too much on the ball & little end product, other than his excellent shot. Other than Lindsay I was struggling to come up with a man of the match out of the lot of them. Unfair to blame Potts. He should have gone off 10 mins before he did though. If you want to blame anyone for that it would be Hecky. If you watch his post match interview I think he knows he got it wrong second half.
Apart from shot did very little e or 4 terrible crosses. Not blaming him soley either everyone was poor. Two poor sides and but for 2 good strikes would have been a drab nil nil
Potts, Pearson etc - totally ignoring the massive step up these lads have had to make does no-one any favours. In an ideal world with a fully fit squad both wouldn't have been played as often as they have. What they had ? 7/8 games at Championship level ? Yet that's enough to chalk **** on em both. Lovely.
Opinions game innit - I think there's potential there - he's raw, and needs to come to terms with a faster pace and players that react quicker at this level, but he's certainly not for binning after 10 minutes of the season.
