I was just reading that myself. Squalid. With any luck negotiations will collapse and the big six will break away. Good riddance. They already play in what amounts to a separate league anyway.
I agree when I read Failure to reach agreement would inevitably revive concerns over the possibility of a breakaway of the richest clubs to form a European 'super league My first thought was let's hope so. I also liked the bit about upstart Leicester having the nerve to gatecrash their club and steal some of their entitled revenue by winning the league
I was going to post about this today. Completely fallen out of love with football at that level. Can't even remember last time I watched Match of the Day and it's a program I watched religiously. Those top clubs have now got an unbreakable monopoly on the game and if they want to do their own thing then so be it.
Get rid. It's only a powerful threat (them saying they might form their own league) cos the fa think it is. Once they are gone they're gone. The people in other countries or cockney man u fans are not fans like we are. People who never attend games and sit watching satellite tv don't watch the game we do. It pretty much a different sport. It's time these 'big', 6 bullies went and we can enjoy proper football without them
Couldn't agree more. I've got mates who are happy to pay £130 a month for their Sky and they think it's great. They never go near a football ground. They justify it by saying I pay more than them for attending live matches, with ticket prices, travel etc. I can't be arsed arguing with them any more. The net effect of all this will be on display in England's next couple of games.
I definitely enjoy watching the championship more than the premier league these days. Let’s hope that the ‘big six’ **** off and take their overpaid primaddonas with them.
What point has to be reached before two doctors declare the Premier League to be clinically dead and no longer a fair competition? The exciting element of sport seems to be being killed off by excessive cash day by day and week by week. Good old Leicester City!!! We need Bournemouth to do something similar (unlikely, I admit!)
The big 6 leaving would be the best thing to happen to football for years. Let's hope it happens. I'd give em 5 years before they came crawling back.
They can take the premier league trophy with them. We'll keep the real one that was competed for for a hundred years before 1992 when, amazingly, football existed.
God I hope they **** off and form a European Super League. It would be the best thing to happen to domestic football for years. Perhaps then we can get back to a level playing field whilst they go and become the Harlem Globe Totters.
They already have a similar system in place in Spain where Barcelona and Real Madrid are getting vast amounts of money from the broadcasting rights where the rest of the clubs have to make do with a much smaller allocation. And we all know how well-balanced La Liga is! It's a rubbish system and they should try and make it more fair rather than make the gap bigger.
If they did form a European super league , once again it would be the fans that suffer . There are many fans who take great pride in watching their team home & away & not missing a match , however , imagine the cost involved for the ordinary fan if half their matches involved trailing around Europe . not only that , how many can take time off work on a regular basis ? Forming a league like this would take away travelling to watch your team for the working class fan . Once again , greed is the problem !
While I'm on a rant. That (insert swearword of choice) Scudamore makes me sick. Sitting there peddling his "product" rather than acting like a sports administrator. Would I like to get promoted? Yes. But what then? Do we become a new Stoke City, West Brom? So desperate to get a point in the league at Palace that we'll forfeit the opportunity to win an FA Cup game and play a reserve team. To have surrendered all hope of ultimate success in exchange for the scraps from the trough left by the Uniteds and Chelseas of the world. It's a poor reward.
