He should also be banned from teaching for holding and expressing opinions that are harmful to his students.

It's about time that we stopped allowing people to hide behind religion as a means of legalising their bigotry.

Do you think Isgrove will be fit for selection after the international break?

Hope so pal, I think an injection of raw pace replacing an already overworked full back during the game could result in us getting the killer late goal.

    Nope. Wrong.
These are the views of an individual and they should be RESPECTED.
As long as the teacher dosent preach views that are contrary to the views of the curriculum then no harm is done.

He will have gay students in his care. His opinion which he happily states publicly is that his student is a sinner. Sorry but that is harmful and shouldn't be allowed. Hiding behind religion doesn't make bigotry ok

Maybe he should have kept his opinions to himself but freedom of speech is a democratic right of any individual without restraint , censorship or legal penalty as long as they are not inciting violence .

What if this was said in a workplace and someone complained?

I would imagine someone would be in bother.

What if I had a religion which believed black people were inferior. For how long would I be allowed to be racist and hide behind religion? Not long I imagine

Freedom of speech means the government can't throw you in prison for what you say. It doesn't mean that the rest of us have to tolerate it.

Views don't have an automatic right to be RESPECTED. Views don't have any rights. How could they? It is the right of the individual to hold such views, but any other individual has the right to challenge, oppose or indeed mock those views.

We don't actually have freedom of speech in the UK, or at least not enshrined by law like it is in America (first amendment).

The current government are now proposing a maximum sentence of 15 years for watching videos online. Ok, this is terrorist material that most sane people find abhorrent, but this is thought crime.

Well all those that found he was out of order, had better tell the football fans who participate in homophobic chanting, that that is unacceptable too.
