I often post about how open or more likely closed the club are compared to others and the expectations I have towards that organisation. I often find the best way to go about things are just talk about them and be open. I listen to podcast's and talks about all sorts of things.

Anyway, I was looking around the other day and stumbled across a channel on youtube channel IFL TV. I'm not a massive boxing fan but i've listened to a few of the discussions and Q and A's that are there with some of the biggest I presume people in the sport. AJ's been on several times. Eddie Hearn, Frank Warren, Eubanks and so on.

That Video's of Warren discussing the box nation business and a lot of other things.

Then I started to think why are they doing this? Well, it's quite simple. Promotion and connecting with the fans. These guys know they need each other which is good in a way. The Youtube channel gets the big names on and in turn gets big views and the names get the audience to call out others and say what's going on. There's a Q and A with Eddie Hearn that must have lasted hours.

This isn't just a Boxing thing though. I've noticed since the F1 takeover happened with Liberty Media Copr that they have been ever so media friendly to grow the sport. Sky are one of the big names in the sports but the big names at the copr will often go and speak with them on a range of different matters on TV. The first one they did was brilliant. This new guy had come in and he spoke about himself. Very simple but often hard to do for many and said what he thought about the sports but more importantly but some markers down for others to judge like the fans and the broadcasters to call him out on.

Football of which I judge a lot of that on Barnsley Football CLub Limited is lacking in this for me. I write about this in the summer and was integrated to see what others thought. Now not much changes at BFC and them it does it seems to be a bizarre backwards step to close what was the most interactive media outlet the club operate in my opinion at the very least.

I listen to what AJ says and I honestly agree with a lot of it. Someone said in the summer on here well he's busy. AJ says you are never busy, you either want to do IT or NOT anything else an excuse. Treat everyone the same. You promote the brand or try and put out an answer why you don't want to because if you are ignorant to the fans they don't have to back you and it's very easy for them.

I'd agree that we don't get as much connection with the fans from Gauthier Ganaye as we got from Ben Mansford. I hope that changes.
If you expect to get openness regarding the takeover I think you're being naive.
PH always seems very honest in what he says. He tells us what he can and is clear about what he cannot discuss.
The club at the moment is in a situation that is well outside the norm what with the takeover etc. I think that needs to be understood and taken into account.

It's hard to be open when the club is going through a takeover and all updates will be incredibly commercially sensitive.

In any event, I think YouTube videos will have a negligible impact on club income. If we hired someone else and bought the equipment necessary to make extra videos I doubt we'd make the expenditure back. Think about it - 99% of people who want to watch the interviews will be interested because they already attend matches. The factor that determines whether casual fans come through the turnstiles is the success of the team, not the fact that the club has uploaded an interview asking Hammill how many sheets of toilet paper he uses when he wipes his arse or whatever.

This is not a dig at all, but could you please explain in layman"s terms exactly what you mean, because I have read it three or four times & cannot understand what you are on about

I shall paraphrase. He means: " There are lots of us who have nothing else to fill our time up with anything except more media from the club. So Whitey tattle on alot more".

It's just a few feelings on a Media within Sport. It's an opinion based post and that's what I like to post on here for really. I'm not really someone that will post the seventh response saying ha, Bradshaw's an upgrade to Bale in a joke way. Not me at all. It's not funny the first time I read it so the 7th isn't going to either.

It's just how the sport could improve. I know in the US they do it differently also in the American based sports with the media going into the dressing room's. Personally, think that's a bit far.

    F1. Busted flush.

    Boxing is losing its appeal.

I wonder why these sports are being overly media friendly.

If anything football would be better with less media exposure. TV money is killing the sport.

Interviews within much of football now are sanitised and policed by the clubs' media and communications officers to the point where the interviewers are virtually told what questions to ask. It's a kind of propaganda in many ways. I take much of what appears on screen and online from sources such as Sky, and the more high profile clubs, with a huge pinch of salt.

Fair point you make about the changes to the club twitter feed, I hope that those who led the content on the previously separate accounts can use the main official Twitter account to the same effect as before.

"So Reginald, you must be delighted with the hat trick today?"
    "Yeah, I'm over the moon"
"That's bound to boost your confidence"
"Yeah, but it's all about the team"
"It's nice to get on a run of goals though"
    Yeah, it is"
"Have you set yourself a target for this season?"
    "No."

    Sometimes less is more.

Was just thinking. With Tom Bradshaw replacing Gareth Bale in the Welsh squad, Chris Coleman has actually got an upgrade! Hahahahaha

I’ve Interviewed quite a few big uns and it’s always the same old meaningless tripe. I had one other week (I won’t name names but he’s just moved between two massive clubs for an absolute ton of money) and got barely more than a sentence of drivel per question. Funny thing is, it’s not their sponsors like Nike, Adidas demanding they play it straight (on the contrary, they’re gagging for genuinely interesting sports stars), it’s the clubs!

So are you talking about football in general or Bfc. If your talking about “the sport of football”. Why bring Bfc into it. Your post makes zero sense to be honest

It’d be nice to see a bit more. I like how some of the big clubs have an official snapchat account & you see behind the scenes but at the same time I doubt we’ve got the budget to carry much of a media team.
