I checked out the group tables for the checkatrade cup the other day. Nearly all the premier league youth teams were bottom or second bottom. It's proving once again that they can't cut it against a team of older pros. I can't for the life of me understand why we don't have a reserve set up so that those out of the first 18 get games against decent opposition and promising youth team players get a bridge to the first team rather than having to make one huge leap.
All scrapped cos folks trying to justify their salaries came up with Academies and let the Premier League decide they didn't want real matches anymore for their kids
