and for once put a manager in place that will get progress... and not some puppet you can control. You missed the boat with Brian Clough as you knew he would no be dictated by you... please find a man who can be released to give our country a chance... we do have players who can compete, but not while you "suits" at the FA restrain everything.
Who are these players that can compete? Southgate is playing the game how the FA and the football technocrats think it should be played. They have spent a fortune trying to emulate Spain or Brazil and still can't work out why England are cack
Sean Dyche, Eddie Howe If you want an English choice. Given the money we could pay if we wanted to down the non British route we could probably attract some quite big names. Some recent retired player might fancy it. Gerrard maybe or Philip Lahm. Follow the Germany model which doesn’t place much weight on experience. We would still be a poor international team but might actually play to win and be mildly entertaining occasionally.
That is just re-arranging the old deck chairs on the titanic, the problem is England players are overpriced and under exposed to international football. Assuming we make the world cup I bet we are the only European side without a player player playing abroad - what does that tell you? Either the Premier league is so brilliant, why would you go elsewhere, or that English players are not good enough to play in the top European leagues. I'm going with the latter, not the former.
a third of the first team squads in the epl qualify for England. It's in the 60% bracket in Spain or Germany
But the EPL was going to be great for the England Team. The FA killed their own product when they jumped into bed with em
What with Southgate, Woy, Big Sam and Arry as our best managers we are a laughing stock. You want a manager that knows how to win, him who manage's the Blunts I must admit he knows and its harder to win in the lower league's.
A good illustration of this was before the world cup in Germany - the Bundesliga used the world cup ball for the season before the finals, the EPL declined because they had "sponsorship" with another ball manufacturer - now this may seem a small thing, but it really tells you everything about the priority of the English League - $$$$$.
