Anybody remember the 1987/8/9 seasons when the inflatables took over football?
I recall Man City with their banana, and Grimsby with the cod, didn't we have a miners lamp or something similar?

It was possibly, just possibly Stoke and their Pink Panthers that started the craze.
I remember the whole Ponty singing 'You can shove your Pink Panthers up your @rse' when we stuffed em one Tuesday night back then.

Man City started it with the inflatable bananas and Stoke followed suit with the Pink Panthers followed by Grimsby and their cod.
We had inflatable Toby Tykes which some budding entrepreneur sold before a cup tie. The craze died off after that one match 'cos I never saw them again.
