Boro beam back

My faded memory of that is a dozen or so Boro fans running on and giving it the 'big I am'. One wrapped a scarf around his face like a bandit, arms spread inviting any takers. A bloke in an NCB donkey jacket calmly walked onto the pitch, put him down with a single punch and climbed back into the stand. The rest of the Boro lads thought better of it and ran back to the safety of the away end.

Someone posted online other day you could pay on the day with a 2 pound increase which I thought was strange as boro sold the away end out weeks ago

 

As you can clearly see on the picture there are at least 4 or 5 lads from barnsley 'helping' the boro lads back to their own end.

 

I find it strange too, given the comments attributed to the safety folks on here last week. It seems to me that in our efforts to ensure the main bulk of away fans is as widely segregated as humanly possible, we are mainly inviting trouble by allowing open access to all 3 other sides by 'pay on the day'.

I'm sure we are making things worse.

 

Fully agree mate. Was just describing my own memory. Your pic is proof of what a senile old get I have become.

 

It doesn't help either when someone who is clearly a leeds fan, has a leeds accent and has a rhinos shirt on gets 4 tickets from the box office. He even asked if he could have them 'nearest the away end'. I challenged him after he had bought the tickets upon which he became immediately agitated and swiftly left and met his mate who was oddly stood outside waiting for him. I pointed all this out to the person who had just sold him the tickets and asked when was the last time he had purchased tickets: yep, it was the last time we had played leeds at home a couple of seasons before.

 

Bonkers when we could easily give them at least another 500-1000 tickets!!! Just inviting away fans into the home end.

 

Could tell they were Leeds in that area last season when the game had only just kicked off stewards were all over there and it was getting heated. Then when Leeds scored it kicked off in that corner. And then 2 Leeds fans were sat together in the eaststand nearest the ponty and got sussed out then the stewards tried getting them out it all kicked off again. As said just give them 500-1000 more tickets.

 

Looks like we'll have a decent crowd on Saturday. Boro' have apparently sold 4,700 tickets.
For me the next three games will be a big test for our young team.
I'll be pleased if we can get five points from the nine on offer.

 

I'm more concerned that they told you their booking history, it's none of your business and should be confidential.

 

In 99.9% of circumstances you're quite right. I made them aware of their error and they acknowledged they had made one pretty much.
I'd be more concerned about the trouble it actually caused within the ground if I were you.
In the future I will not try to intervene to stop any possible or probable trouble within the ground.
Odd response considering the circumstances.

 

My mate is a season-ticket holder.

A seldom-attending former work colleague of his asked at the box office for details of my mate's seat, bought a ticket next to us, and turned up to the next home game.

My friend didn't care, but it made me uncomfortable. The ex-work colleague should have been told that the box office are not legally allowed to share those details.

 

That is quite worrying!

 

It could easily have been someone who had less than friendly motives. A serious breach of data protection.

 

In the grand scheme of things I'm a lot more worried about confidential information being given out than if some away fans sit in our area. In other sports fans of both sides sit together no bother. I also live in Leeds and have been refused tickets when I phoned from my Leeds home phone number to buy tickets in the home end as I'd only got Leeds games in my booking history (I used to just turn up and pay on the day before the price increases/getting a ST and so only booked for ticket only matches) so it can happen that there's a perfectly normal explanation. There wasn't really any need for the defensive 'In the future...' response to me expressing concern at the club happily sharing confidential information, it was them I was blaming for sharing not necessarily you for asking.

 

The person behind me in the queue was happily made aware of my name and address because naturally i was asked to give it.
Perhaps we should demand private booths down at the box office?
The staff at the box office didn't tell me his name or address (which i had heard him give anyway).
Perhaps you should take this heinous issue up with the club, notwithstanding how it arose, and get a couple of people sacked.
I may just have to do this on your behalf as i am appalled at the inferred infringement.

 

The difference is that in your example you are the one choosing to give that information but the people who walked out and the guy in pontyender's post had no idea that information about them was being given away without their knowledge or consent. If you wanted the person behind to not hear you could ask to write it down, buy your ticket in another way or wait until it was empty if it concerned you, your choice.

That looks like Northern Soul night at the Boys Club. Are you sure they didn't just start playing Al Wilson over the PA and everyone got on the pitch and started dancing?
