So I went to the doctors , well nurse to be exact for my 40+ MOT and she said do you smoke? I said no . She said do you Drink? I said a little . She said how many units a week do you drink ? Well here's the problem, how do you keep count ? like a little notepad or something . Casual drinking at home doesn't count in my drinking maths abacus . She said give me a guestimate so I said 40 units a week , aghast she said you need to half that....i said , I just did . Your units please bbs's .
I mainly drink whisky but quantity varies from week to week. I've cut down a lot and I'd say I now average about five double shots per week.
Remember getting quized from the doc regarding my high B/P. He asked how much I drink. I told him usually about 6 pints. Well he said maybe if you were to drop that to about 4 pints a week this might make a difference. About fell off his chair when I informed him it was 6 pints everytime I went drinking.
When he asked me "Do you drink?" I said "Not right now doctor but I'll sink a few pints with you later if you're buying"
I hate the 'how many units per week' question on forms. The vast majority of weeks I drink nothing but then every few months or so I might have 2 pints on a night out or a couple of single vodka and diet cokes or half a bottle of wine. I can't really answer that as a 'per week' amount so I tend to put one or two which still isn't any accurate.
My doctor asked me if I had a problem with drinking.... I said no I've always got plenty of money for it!!!
The government can't afford for us to retire at 65 and the NHS can't afford for us to live to 105. Yet they want us to not drink, not smoke, breathe clean air, eat lettuce and drink only tap water. My advice, if you like a tipple, go for it. There's little point being 97 year old with a healthy liver and looking back on the life you didn't live as **** dribbles down your leg.
Can go 2-3 weeks without a drop then I’ll have a big weekend session.....my drinking mainly coincides with the Football, if we have a few away games in the month I know I’ll be having a few sessions but other than that it dosent appeal to me one bit......through the week I’m much happier going to the gym. Each to there own though
whats my units I drink 10 pints or their abarts when I'm out say 3 or 4 times a week and If I've had a good win on hosses on a setdi 14 pints or there abarts
On an average week I'd say I can usually stack all the empties I've drank on 1 large kitchen unit, if piled high to the ceiling.
I gave up drinking in the house, but I tell you it's bloody harsh sitting in the Garden in winter, health comes first though.
