I reckon Thiams presence will make us more suited to one up top when we go that way. He seems to be able to find space, is strong and can beat a man. Exciting prospect.
Reading some of the responses on this thread's very strange. we were in front for most of the game with one formation and that went within minutes with the other. It's simple, not good enough. Questions need to be asked of Hecingbottom as to why he changed it and throw away yet another win at oakwell. We are hardly winning at home and when that looks the case he's sabotaging it with stupid system changes. We've won 2/6 at home this season with a talented group. That goes with 1 in 10 last season I believe. A win over Leeds, Sunderland and Nottingham forest are the only league wins we've seen in 2017. Like already been stated we are a counter-attack team. You want teams to come at us. It's perfect. Did Davies make a good save yesterday? I don't think so. Just three weeks to another international break from Heckingbottoms tactics but 4 games to come and this month I had us down for 10 points.
You cannot say that for certain as you'be no idea what would have happened had we stayed with 451. I could see that something had to chnage as Boro were just having too much of the play and Bradshaw was totally isolated. We could not attack with any pace as we were toatlly pressed back - the only player as an outlet in Bradshaw isn't our fastest by a long chalk. We started to cause Boro problems when Thiam came on and we moved to a 442 as it gave them something to think about and we actually had two great chnaces to win the game. I'm not sure that we'd have had any chances had we stayed at 451 even if Thiam had come on for Bradshaw.
The Middlesborough equaliser to make it 2-2 was coming way we was playing 4-5-1, at least when we went 4-4-2 it gave them something to think about as they were bossing the game
Yes - I'd agree with that. Boro seemed to have at least 70% of possession - and that was likely to increase by taking one out of midfield. I'd have swapped the injured Potts - who was again our most influential player - for Moncur. And in the second half Thiam for Bradshaw who again ran his blood to watter. Even tho Fletcher was Boro's least influential player - this is the type of player that Barnsley are obviously missing. Playing 451 it is clear to see that Bradshaw, Thiam or Ugbo are just not big enough for this role.
I'd like to see Thiam play that role for a few games. He just seems to naturally find more space than Bradders, and also has a trick or two. I've a feeling he could be our best option.
How the hell are you failing to understand that a goal was coming. Boro completely fecked up some very good chances. The change was made to help prevent this. When they scored I doubt anyone was surprised. NOT because we went 442 but because they had been allover us for best part of a hour. My 15 year old son kept saying to me if they score they will win. That’s how the game was going. You must be the only person in the ground who couldn’t see it. Doesn’t surprise me though because your eagerness to criticise fans favourites blinds you from this.
The question is on his own could he do it, because he's not the tallest. Bradshaw isn't a target man but I think he does a good job on his own Perhaps next week we could drop Potts and start with both Thiam and Bradshaw
We created more chances when we went 442 in 2nd half, get that in your head.2nd half for 1st 20 minutes we didn't get out of our own half cos Boro bossed it and they would have won if we didn't go 442 cos we created more chances and should won.
You are wasting your time. I just can't understand how someone can watch so much football and know nowt abart it.
