loves to tarnish our town! You just know they'd have sought out the worse of the worse, edited out many decent folk (even those who voted leave). sigh.
Disgusting piece of journalism. Obviously there are those who hold those views and not only in Barnsley but there are many more I'm sure who hold the polar opposite view of immagrants. Why were they not interviewed? Pieces of ***** journalism like this will only incite racial tensions.
I agree OGC1887 ... why doesn't channel 4 go ask folk in Richmond on Thames the Cotswolds etc..?? TBH the clip wasn't as bad as when they turned up at the bus station last year interviewing folk.
I've watched john snow absolutely slaughter (whoever was in charge of police/security intelligence at the time) after a terrorist attack. I've also seen him moved to tears whilst interviewing the father of a victim of the manchester arena bombing. I like John Snow. In regards to barnsley however...... 67% of people voted to leave, as did similar percentages in other northern towns. Perhaps they should have gone to Doncaster instead.
Love it !!! You can just see all the journalists sat around the table - and one sez - 'we need a quick story on this one - and the gaffer of the journalists says 'right, pick up a microphone and get yourself up to Barnsley, yer guaranteed to get some daft comments from those crazy foookers in that town'. ........... LOL !!! Wi foooking crackers !!! And I love it
Well that is debatable when you see the nick of some of them. But perhaps there is something in there.
Unfortunately as the channel 4 video illustrates people were allowed to votes who did not A understand what they were voting for B understand the implications
Seems an accurate representation of the inbuilt racism and sad lack of grasp of the issues around leaving the EU. We just don't like it when a light is shone on the people who voted leave.
I dont think everyone who voted leave was racist. .. even for those who were against the eu due to immigration. Which'll still be the same if we're in the eu or not , under all the main party's inclu Tory/Ukip
You can call it lazy journalism or whatever but this is a true representation of the majority of pro brexit voters in Barnsley. I meet them every day . Just sit in any cafe or pub for an hour and you'll hear this ***** over and over.
This was my argument at the time, and considering how close the vote was, had some (obviously not all who voted to leave) taken a second to actually read what they were actually voting for, then I feel Britain would have comfortably voted to remained in the EU. One comment on Facebook at the time, 'I've voted to leave as we don't need anymore hand car washes'. I kid you not.
Should never have been a referendum. Totally about the Tory party. Having said that, when you decimate the coal and steel industries and replace them with zero hour, minimum wage warehouse jobs, then you shouldn't be surprised when people look for someone to blame. As usual the scapegoats are the wrong people.
You've no need kid me When calendar did a similar interview one bloke said I voted out because we've too many muslims coming
I know a bloke in Sheffield who voted out because of Uber. .He thought it was a German company coming over here driving our taxis.
