Did we play badly? Far from it, we played a lot of good stuff at times. However, the combination of failing to score when dominating games and conceding late goals is an absolutely deadly one. Already our only target is staying up. Can we do it? Of course. Will we? Very much touch and go.

23 shots, only 5 on target and 0 goals is shocking. We do love to gift teams points at Oakwell under Hecky, think that's 2 wins since January in the league at home.

Hardly Hecky's fault that our shooting was so wayward in the first half. On the upside of things we are clearly competitive and will only improve as the season goes on. We've got some very good players, but they're inexperienced, and blooding them in one of the best leagues in the world is extremely risky. Not sure what other choice we've got though.

I'm sure we'll have a run of games where we actually take our chances but God it's frustrating to dominate, fail to put sides away and then concede some calamity of a goal(s). It's not Heckys fault our players miss chances but it's happened so many times at home since the start of the year. Ipswich (twice), Preston, Brentford, Burton, and now Hull to name a few teams that have shithoused their way to a point or 3 because we declined to put them away when on top.

A bit unlucky with the injury, we had to bring on a centre half at a corner they scored from. That was their 1st shot on target

It was one of those games that after 10 minutes I thought we ain't going to score today . We lacked quality especially up front . I'm not one for criticising players but Ugbo clearly isn't ready for Championship football. There must be some game quota agreement with Chelsea cos how he started before Thiam is beyond me .

I'm not sure if it's reasonable to assume that we will improve more than other teams as the season goes on.

    Life is never that simple.

Plus I'm not sure we're blessed with "very good players", when compared to those that we're playing against.

We look a bit stronger at the back, but midfield and especially upfront is sadly lacking.

We do compete though, but inevitably get knackered towards the end.

I was very surprised that he started before Thiam too. Showed some nice touches and movement in the first half but far too raw to be chucked into a match like today's against a slow but wily Hull defence.

Is the answer - because we sold everyone and failed to assign enough funds to recruit adequate replacements.

Agree with a lot of that. Plusses - Fryers and McGeehan were excellent. But McGeehan should really have been signed a year ago, and blooded gradually. I have no doubts he's going to be some player for us in time.

A bit harsh under the circumstances. Knowing that he had to sell the club in the very near future, I'm assuming that his thinking was to make the balance sheet look as healthy as possible. Not saying I'm happy with how it was done, but it's understandable at least.

I don't think Maurice Watkins will have banked money from us. 1 clean sheet in our last 19 competitive games. Gave a team their first away win in 24 matches. Failed to score. Only took one point from back to back home games. Our form since the January transfer window shut has been relegation battle level.

    It's a long slog already.

To be fair, pocketed is the wrong word to have used; clearly the money may well still be in the football club, hopefully. But I do wish we’d been a bit more flexible with the recruitment policy.

That's a below the belt assumption with not an ounce of proof.

Our Championship status is all depending on this take over and the players we are able to bring in during the January transfer window IMO.
Feel for Hecky, he can only work with what he's been given.

Agree with that. Though it still may not have saved us having to bring so many new players in at once. Was chatting with my mate after the game and we both agreed that we're a bit rubbish at forward planning. Just got to hope that changes with the new ownership. Fingers crossed.

Yes, agreed, absolutely the wrong expression to have used. Apologies. Will remove the comment. What I was trying to say, badly, is that I wish we had utilised more of the funds to sign replacements. That’s all. Apologies for any offence.

We all think we know everything - me especially.

But I thought Fryers was mediocre today - his heading was atrocious.

McGeehan I am hoping is not yet up to speed, because I've not yet seen him play any sort of intuitive forward pass that indicates he's got a smart footballing brain. He lays it back when other better options would be seen by someone who had the appropriate awareness and skill.

He is as yet a couple of divisions below Matty James in terms of being a footballer.

i think Moncur is a better option than McGeehan. At the moment.
