Well I enjoyed the Match day experience, nice bit of noise from both sets of supporters. The game panned out as I had predicted,if I know how Leonid Slutsky sets up his teams, why doesn't our coaching staff?
Surprised we changed the formation,I thought it was time for Ryan Hedges to start instead of Barnes. Young players are inconsistent and so it proved to be with Ugbo and Barnes, who were poor today. Hull played 4231,we ought to have gone the same.
Neither team looked like scoring even though it was entertaining to watch, but based on the players available it would be Hull.
Barnsley are going to struggle for the remainder of the season and probably be relegated unless they can get at least 2 good strikers. Ugbo doesn't have it and will spend the majority of his career in the lower leagues. Thiam is a Cult figure with some fans without any evidence of ability and so far his inclusion is pointless. Bradshaw ran everywhere today to try to receive the ball,to no avail. He wasn't helped by long balls from the back to try to win.
The manager got it wrong today as he has a few times this season and I wonder if supporters would tolerate this,if he wasn't from Barnsley?
As I have said before,I think the squad will be fine next season having had a year together. This season is going to be a learning experience but I don't believe them to be good enough for the Championship. The team is capable until the front 3, who are no threat in this league, harsh assessment I know but fair.
So I think it's time to enjoy games, support the team and not get angry and down after defeats,we are not good enough at the moment and I don't see a Takeover changing that.
PS. To blame McDonald for their goal is absurd.
    Of course I know nothing.

I may be in the minority here but I thought that Ugbo put himself about and competed amicably against the far more physical Dawson and Hector. Far too often we lumped it to Ugbo and he won a flick on or forced an error.

Largely agree with that. As I've said on other threads, not signing McBurnie is a major **** up. Agree re Ugbo. Bradders is a squad player, or an Allan Clarke sniffer of goals, that needs a Joe Jordan. Not seen enough of Thiam. He has a physical presence & power, but I can't decide if he is trying too hard, or is just sh!te. Think the rest of the team is OK, which is a miracle.

I think Hecky gets it right 90% of the time, but a substitution of a CB at a defensive corner is a schoolboy error. It was clear Jackson was injured, but could have played till we had a throw in, he'd laboured for 15 minutes. THink a change of formation, rather that like for like replacements would also have been good, versus a team of experienced players. I suspect he'll we havin a word with Williams & Hammill re their spat. Two bad losers, which is a good trait, but not if it affects team morale.

Squad strengthening needed for sure its a continuous improvement program.....i think i agree with wrong formation today, jmo but i believe games are won n lost in midfield .......do you think Hecky knows his best 11 and best formation yet ,, i can only think not with all the rotation....

You could be right Mapp,I was sat in the ESL and it looked like he was too static, wanting the ball to feet rather than running the channel or in behind. It's all opinions and I'm not going to fall out with anyone about it. Me and the wife noticed he was struggling with his right Hamstring before he was subbed.

Jackson should've gone down when injured. We actually had the ball whilst Jackson was limping around and yet he didn't go down which would've allowed us to kick it out. I can't believe he went down and was replaced when we conceded a corner. That's schoolboy stuff.

I thought he did and then went and changed it today, having not lost for 3 games. I'm struggling to see where Isgrove plays when fit, unless it's in a 442 with new Strikers.

I didn't find it entertaining at all, nor do I think the manager got it wrong.

I don't see many live games Jay and I felt both teams were trying to affect or win the game .I accept that they were not very good at doing that, due possibly to a lack of quality. However over the Hour and a half, there were few periods where I wasn't watching. I felt Hull were prepared to soak up all the attacks of Barnsley and hit on the break, being happy with a draw. A fortuitous goal won it after a enforced substitution, harsh to blame anyone.

Hull came bit to lose - very hard to break down a team who have that intention.
We tried to play some football but had very little luck. Williams played very well with an honourable mention to Fryers and Mcgheehan who both looked tidy but lacking match practice.
We won't go down. If we get a decent big lad in January we fine. A Glenn Murray type addition would be great but would settle for big Mick letting us have Kiefer Moore

Bit harsh on Thiam. He was very good when he came on at Millwall, and also against Boro last week.

I was quite surprised to see him bench warming today in favour of Bradshaw and Ugbo.

After all the chopping and changing hecky does with his front players, I think Thiam deserves as many chances as the others.

I agree with a lot of what the OP has posted however I think Bradshaw is good enough for this level and the jury is out on both Ugbo and Thiam. With a couple of astute, quality additions in January I think we'll be ok.

I felt sorry for him yesterday,he was running here, there and everywhere trying to make things happen. When he did receive the ball it was way above his height. I do think that a partner who would work in tandem with him, would really benefit the team and relieve the pressure on the defence. Against Millwall, attacks were quick and fast crosses into the box. Yesterday was very slow and predictable, which played into Hull's plan of sitting back and hitting on the counter.
I felt the team were on the verge of putting a run together, but changing the team and formation put paid to that. There's nothing wrong with making a mistake as long as you learn from it.The next two away games will see if he has, they are not easy ones by any means,we could start November in the bottom 3.
    All the best to you

I felt very sorry for him too; he must be getting so frustrated but he carries on working and trying. It's all speculation but I really think we'd have seen more from him had the McBurnie deal gone through so as it is January is looking key for us.
