Fair play to NT as it can't be easy from a personal and professional point of view being a number two goalkeeper. I really hope that this loan works out and that he either comes back and truly challenges/displaces AD or earns a move elsewhere as a number one.

According to official site we have an instant recall agreement. So if he is needed as cover he will still be available.

Possibly because any higher up the pyramid would mean waiting until the transfer window opens in january

That seems logical. As I said earlier I thought they'd taken him on an emergency loan and I think the emergency loan rules mean he could have gone to a league club. I don't have an issue with him going to a conference side, quite the contrary really as I think it will do him good. Testing himself at a league club would have been better but being at a conference side is infinitely better than what he's currently doing.

Plymouth have just signed their 4th keeper of the season due to injuries so they could presumably have come in for him.

Teams have to have goalkeepers injured to sign replacements out of the window in the football league, however , Conference teams can sign emergency loans currently for any player , for example, George Waring has moved this week from Tranmere to Halifax on loan. So technically, Nick Townsend could have moved to a team higher in the pyramid should that team have a goalkeeper crisis but this is not the case with Solihull

He’s from Birmingham isn’t he. That’s probably the reason he’s chose em.

Think there’s is the emergency emergency situation like Plymouth as has been mentioned; but that’s only for a week I think initially and last week Plymouth needed the keeper, we had Walton out on loan so couldn’t have loaned out townsend in that situation

Forgot that, but sure I read somewhere that could only be for a week anyway, so wouldn't be of great benefit to him anyway

I'd like to think that it's a rolling 7 day type thing but I can certainly see your point.

He spent twelve years with Birmingham and didn't play in the first team and he's only
warming the bench for us. He's a Solihull lad so he has literally signed to help his local
team and to get some first team football albeit at National League level.
Played the full game in a 2-1 away win at Eastleigh tonight.
