Wow. I'm amazed they've managed to make it stick. Bit of shame that realigning with the Premier League has subsequently seen other clubs punished less severely.
Other clubs that can't possibly be compliant: Sheffield Wednesday Birmingham Fcking Brighton Touch and go: Bristol City Wolves Aston Villa
Brighton dodged the bullet when they went up. That's the issue with FFP. All these clubs are breaking the rules in order to gain promotion and if they succeed, then they go unpunished.
Brighton almost certainly dodged the bullet of administration when they went up. According to their accounts, their debt is so huge that even the PL money and any subsequent parachute payments won't go close to covering it.
Really good news....if it works....there to protect the likes of us...who try to do stuff honestly. I would add another caveat to this and just say whoever harry redknapp has managed....investigate!!
Instead of a fine, a 40million-point deduction - with effect immediately - would make me feel better about us staying up.
That doesn't automatically mean they were on the brink of administration. As long as their benefactor is prepared to cover the losses they are fine.
Where's the £40m going? I don't suppose we'll see any of it, given that we were one of the teams affected by QPR (AND Leicester) during that 2013/14 season?
My mates who are old school Brighton fans believed it was a very real possibility if they didn’t go up. They thought it was **** or (go) bust.
It was meant to be shared out between the other clubs but the Premier League clubs objected and the FL folded so it goes to charity.
How is it disproportionate given what they stand to gain? Not sure about the big fines tbh though, given that the reason some of the clubs could afford it. I'd go with a points deduction big enough to ****** their existing season and compulsory relegation with no parachute payments if they had benefitted by promotion from breaking the laws. Thing is the punishment should be harsh because it doesn't harm anybody but the ones who set out to cheat their fellow clubs.
