I went with my son last night to watch Man City ( he just loves football) and the fact it was only £15 a adult and £5 a child made it better. But what a stadium Ethihad is... So apart from Oakwell been the obvious what's the best stadium you've been to ??
Anfield when it was still standing on the Kop. 25000 in the Kop end and the place was absolutely bouncing.
I thought the Etihad was decent when we went in the FA Cup a few years ago but sounds as though it's got better with that third tier.
The Donbass Arena in Donetsk was absolutely amazing before it got bombed. I really like The Ethiad too, and have to say that Wembley is also pretty awesome.
Off the top of my head, my favourite ones in order Wembley San Siro Camp Nou 2010 Etihad Nou Camp 1985 Old Trafford Amsterdam Arena Olympic Stadium Rome since refurb
The old Twickenham...like a huge version of the centre Court at Wimbledon...the stands were close to the pitch and the atmosphere generated was incredible.
Good call. We went for the Varsity match every year with school. What a cracking (if extremely cold) day out.
San siro, the seats are a 12" piece of plastic glued to a concrete step. People walk all over them, so if you are lucky enough to climb the million steps up to the stand without having a coronary, you will find a pile making machine covered in footprints, spilt drinks and tab ends to sit on. Having said that, the atmosphere isn't half bad even when half full.
Nou Camp outside of the UK. Been lucky enough to work at some of our larger stadiums, as well as spectate. Always found the Millennium Stadium to be a great experience, and the Olympic Stadium (for Rugby) was fantastic. But I've got a real soft spot for Sandy Park, Exeter. Was involved planning X-ray services for the Rugby World Cup so visited there and worked there a few times. A great little family set up, still in touch with its club rugby roots. The 'stand' behind one of the sets of posts was basically an open marquee with a huge bar. For the RWC, they put seating in place, but kept the bar. Match atmosphere was fantastic.
Buy yourself one of those cushions they sell outside the ground. I enjoyed looking round the mass of stalls outside the ground almost as much as the match. Some of the snap was cracking. We have so much to learn in this country. Our expectations are so low.
I wasn't basing it on comfort. Most italian fans take a newspaper into their stadiums to sit on . The memories it brought of Italia 90 did it for me
