The start of the second half was so flat, and Lindsey and MacDonald were looking very uneasy. Then the absolutely cringeworthy "We're all Tarn aren't we" chant went up. Hate us imitating any Wednesday chant, but to be fair, it went on, and on, and it did lift the atmosphere and the players responded. Looked alot more than 2000 there, and the "best fans in the country" were silent all game. Jason McCarthy thrilled to bits with his new song. Brilliant.
I hate the 'all Tarn aren't we?' chant. With a passion. It did something to the players, though, and there is no denying it. I just wish it had been a different chant.
For those of us who are not proper fans, please could someone tell me what the Jason McCarthy song is?
Oayo, Jason McCarthy, oayo, Hates Sheffield (or f***ing) Wednesday, oayo, Never gives the ball awayyyyy 1, 2, 3 ,4
We were poor in the first half, no idea why, as Wednesday were there for the taking. Loved the chants. Atmosphere definitely lifted in second half and the away end was rocking. Thought it was a good mockery of their "We're all Wednesday arent we?" Loved it tbh. A nerve wracking end and we could've nicked it but at least we're not coming home devastated.
Just loved how thrilled he was at the end that we were singing for him. He went around the whole squad and told them it was a song for him. Brilliant.Well done whoever made it up.
The support today was just outstanding. I thought it was the reason we came away with something from the game. Dreadful performance start of 2nd half, exemplified by Gus who couldn’t seem to get his head up, and then came that noise. Wonderful and extraordinary at the same time. The fans were MOM for me.
Gus and Lindsey - heads went down at the same time. I was worried. Body language awful. Then the singing kicked in. It saved us, it really did.
Brill just brill , first half we were all at sea , second half started same and then this noise started and steadily migrated across the whole stand. If you knew the words or not it just became one and that for me was the changing moment . Realised today that we are the 12th man! It's a cliche but today proved it so true . You reddds
I totally respect the views of those who refused to go due to pricing, but today I saw something I've not seen in a while - the fans turned us around when all look lost.
I agree. The support in the last 30-35 minutes was just incredible. We've been quiet the last couple of home games, this is an example of the difference it can make.....
Absolutely. It was a pleasure to be there. What made it all the more special was that support, that noise, that encouragement came at a time when we weren’t getting anything from the players!! It was all one way. A group of supporters pushing a team along to be better...and they responded.
