Carlos Carvalhal: "We were so unlucky not to win." Interviews Here is this week's opposition view, from Sheffield Wednesday Head Coach, Carlos Carvalhal. Continue reading on the official site...
When alls said and done, they scored with a ridiculous fluke, hit the woodwork and had a few scruffy efforts. Davies didn't have to make any world class saves. We had slightly less possession, hit the bar, scored a worldy and forced a decent save from a free kick, and Hamill managed to shoot at the keeper. Both teams got into decent wide positions and put poor balls in. Fair result for me. Should have, would have, could have counts for **** all.
N.B. - I wasn't there on Saturday so this post needs to be read in the context of me having seen only 3 mins of highlights on Sky Sports. It looked to me as though Wednesday could've scored two or three goals in that first half in addition to the one that they did convert. Granted the saves Davies made weren't world class as you say but they were free headers from maybe 4/5 yards out that were goalbound and should've really found the net. Bannan's effort in the second half was phenomenal, would've been a goal of the season contender if Yiadom hadn't cleared it off the line.
I think Carlos must have seen the same highlights. Like I said, could and should haves don't count. We had a good goal disallowed. Did he mention that in his summary, or that Bradshaw was clean through on goal. Yeah we were lucky not to lose, but we were also unlucky not to have won. I think Carlos would have been happier for the final whistle than hecky given the way the game had changed.
Agreed, sublime stuff. But it was a cross because he told me himself. Would have been typical had it gone in, mind.
Absolutely. They have some very technical midfielders who are capable of that. Not sure they enjoy the hard yards though. Pottsy bullied them.
