Some smaller players have brought the average height down - but there's a noticeable difference in the height of the players this season - I would say this is the tallest team Barnsley has ever had.
    But I'm biased I suppose.

Interesting that Man Citeh are the eighth smallest team in Europe but are the highest scorers of any in the major leagues and, of course are p!ssing the (physical) Prem.

Unsurprisingly, West Brom are the tallest English team and dull as **** to watch.

Even the stats from last year's Championship add little credence to the premise of this thread. Both Newcastle and Huddersfield were among the smallest teams and Brighton not in the top third. Again, stereotypically, dull, dirty Leeds were top.

That's about the long and the short of it :D

That’s baffled me about Huddersfield. The one thing me & others around us noted about them at Oakwell was just how big they were. They looked to have 8 players all 6 foot plus

Really? Is that really true? Or are you being selective in your memory again?

I went on a tour round Oakwell recently having won a competition and it surprised me how tall Davies actually was. I’m 6’1 and he was taller than me. A quick google has him placed anywhere between 6’0 and 6’3. I’d say he was nearer 6’3.

Not that it matters anyway. He’s the best keeper we’ve had since Steele.

Best "keeper" I've seen in a Barnsley shirt was Glyn Riley at about 4ft nowt:rolleyes:

Yeah, I know what you mean and remember the same but it seems they picked a tall (dull!) side against us with Quaner up front and Billing coming on early as sub in midfield, as well as the two big centre halves, plus Smith, Van la Parra and Whitehead. When you look at a lot of the other players they used during the season there are several under 1.80m, Lowe (1.75), Wells (1.7), Palmer (1.75), Hogg (1.77), Lolley (1.78), Kachunga (1.77), Scannell (1.75), Mooy (1.79) and, of course, Payne (1.65!)

Amazed that no one has mentioned David Watson. One of the best I've seen down at Oakwell and not what you would exactley call tall.
