Ronnie Glavin was just about the most obscure Barnsley player I can remember. From the point of view of the opposition defenders.
Local lad Matty Templeton has returned home and signed for Worksop Town today. Matty, who plays at full back, was most recently on loan at North Ferriby United, he was most notably with Barnsley from seven years-old and made two appearances for the first team before loan spells at Gainsbrough Trinity, Macclesfield Town and North Ferriby. Scored two cracking goals for the first team (on YouTube). Another Academy youngster who is released at 18 and playing non league. Jake Scott another I recall but there as many others but we did produce Sones and Holgate.
Wow, I'm surprised at that! I watched Worksop at the start of last season and the standard of football was dire. And Worksop were skint. Don't even own their own ground any more but sold it to their league rivals Handsworth Parramore. I'd have thought Matty would have done better than that. Let's hope he, and they, head upwards.
One from the 60s. Keith Adamson. And does anyone remember a black African goalkeeper called Nusum (I can't be sure of the spelling). He never played for the first team either.
