Good chance to bounce back after two very poor performances.

6 pointer and the chance to put ourselves 9 points clear of bottom 3.

    Who's making trip?

Unfortunately due to work I can't or I would have.
Fancy a draw this Tuesday followed by a win Saturday. If we sneaked six points this week, I'd be buzzing.

I'd take a win and a draw in any order mate, but both winnable games.

The first time I saw us play Reading was in 1968 when we won 1-0. In those days Reading played in all sky blue and were nicknamed The Biscuitmen, rather than The Royals. I've been racking both my brain cells, but can't recall our scorer that day.
I'd definitely settle for another 1-0 victory for us on Tuesday night.

And they used to have a keeper called Death.

I’m going to Reading. My nearest ground in the championship
Just hoping we see a Norwich or Millwall type performance and not the Leeds Cardiff variety

Be happy with a point but all 3 is possible if we show up with our A game

Did you ever see the legendary Robin Friday play for them?

Yup. He was a brilliant footballer. We beat them 3-2 one Sunday in 1974 and the lad was so much better than anyone else I saw at that level.

I remember that game but was too young to notice or recall how good Friday was. It was one of the games we played on a Sunday with an early KO time to save on power in the Miners Strike. Friday was a bit of a legend by all accounts. Wasn't a film made about him......?

Wasn't it the 7 0 defeat at Reading that prompted Clarkey to hang up his football boots?

Spot on with that about the kick off time, old mate.
I don't know about a film, but Bluebird who used to post on here lent me a book about Robin. That 3-2 game got a mention. Apparently, at half time Jim Iley went into the Reading dressing room and tried to sign Friday!

Correct. Also Peter Springett, Bobby Flavell & Graham Pugh never played for the first team again, whilst John Collins only made one more appearance.

    Goose McCarthy Lindsay
    Yiadom. Fryers
    Williams Moncur Gardner
    Barnes
    Bradshaw

Would like to see a tweak to the formation.

    We have to change, 352

    Davies

    Mccarthy Mcdonald Lyndsay
    Hammill Yiadom Williams Mallan Barnes
    Thiam Victor A

No basis for that team working but after the last 2 games I'd try anything.

Yiadom and Williams centre mid and help cover the wing backs, Thiam I think will shine in a two and the new lad seems to have knocked a few in in his trial period with us so nothing to lose.
Mallan needs to be given a try in the centre behind the two strikers.

I like the look of that, but I if we've got a back 3 I'd leave Gardner out and have Pott's or Hamill.

Width wise fryer's and Yiadom can both get up and down, and would like to see Barnes running at the defence.

    Good shout.

    Think hammill is suspended.
Wouldn't object to maybe mallan being involved instead of moncur if hecky thinks he's ready.

The book is absolutely brilliant. Sounds like Friday should have played for England, but basically couldn't be bothered to turn up to training most of the time, and when he did he was pissed. Apparently played first team matches completely steaming a few times as well. Makes Gazza look like Thierry Henry in the clean living stakes.
