...... when we failed to get enough strikers in during the summer. Hecky post Bolton says we had enough chances to win the game easily. But the same has happened against Bolton as all rest of the games this season - if you can't manage to score then the opposition sees this and then builds in confidence and goes onto win. No good blaming Hecky in any of this. He built a side last season that was near the playoffs - all the responsibility lies at the feet of the owner. Unfortunately Patrick hasn't got the money to bring in the players we need. PLUS - the players contracts (if possible) in the past should have been better put together than what they were. PLUS - whoever was responsible for getting players through the door in the summer needs sacking - how the hell can a Championship club rely and hope to survive on a last minute signing of a striker that will provide the ONLY different striker option at the club? There should have been at least one other taller striker already brought in before they tried for McBurnie. Never mind tho - Stahlrost says 5 goalkeepers are on their way. Some on here even thought this was funny at the time. Yay !!!
The whole team needs improvement not just forwards. We ha e 5 players good enough for a championship squad.
No - not 6 wingers - but I said we did at least need 2 plus 2 spare - which we got. Wiggy here trying to trivialise events - and then when we hit a bump in the road people like Wiggy are looking around for something to blame - when all along it was plain to see right from the start. I'm not saying any of our players are rubbish - because I rate everyone of them that I've seen this season. What I'm suggesting - and yer can bet yer bottom dollar Hecky will agree with this ..... we just didn't recruit enough of them. Now then - this may have been done purposely to see how the current players performed - and if there were any failures or gaps in the side then this could be put right in January.
we are building a team of kids who haven't got the ability or knowledge to perform against experienced players we need an older experienced management team and a few experienced players NOT KIDS we aren't far away we just need to build.........Lokks like there is not going to be a take over now so maybe we need someone incharge who can either run a football club from the ground up or an investment to sort it out .I'm afraid to say but but if we aren't carefull we are stareing relegation in the face whats the saying......Its no point having a rolls Royce if theres no fuel in the tank .....and we are very close to running out of petrol
We’re making schoolboy mistakes at the back week in week out which is seeing us concede horrendously avoidable goals and ultimately lose games. Yes we had chances today but we also conceded three soft goals. You can only play so many attacking players in an XI so irrespective of whether we have McBurnie, Bradshaw or Pele up top we’ve still got the same midfielders and defenders who are losing their men, switching off and making the same mistakes time after time.
We would need Messi, Suarez and Neymar up front to counter the goals we're shipping at the other end. We need an experienced defender in to help our young and inexperienced back four.
No point in signing a million strikers when we play ONE. The reason we play ONE is because our midfield centre is *****. Nothing else
When you have a manager who’s preferred system is 4-4-2 it’s absolute madness to start the season with only 3 first team strikers, 1 who’s had one year at this level, another who’d never played professional football before & a 3rd who has to deal with moving countries, learning a language & playing at a higher standard than he’s used to
Maybe hecky was expecting "the board" to bring in the players he expected. Or at least who was on the spreadsheet.
My thoughts on this are: Way too early for such a negative view, With all the new faces I was expecting a much worse start than we had. Specifically, less than a point a game on average for the first half season would be acceptable if the team was improving. So I find we're doing better than anticipated but most of the threads on bbs like this one are just so, so negative. Personally I don't see anything to rue at all & feel it's short sighted to be picking on strikers (lack of quality ones) when there are so few crosses in the zone & the team as a whole is in a bad patch that seems harder to get out of without the support they deserve.
Errr, second half yesterday, enough chances were created to have won the game. Potts missed an open goal, Bradshaw headed over a free header to name but two.
That's a fair point, Redstar. With those misses, pressure & lack of confidence could be a factor but top strikers also fluff plenty. I reckon Bradshaw works best when it's instinctive as opposed to when he's more time. Even worse for Potts if he's time to think about the slagging off he'll get from some on BBS
I think we are all dancing round the subject we are by far the youngest and most inexperienced team we need some good old fashioned grunt and passion back hard fighting mature minds on the pitch......Hamill you probably the old man of the team what has happened to the goals and even attempts on goal......everyone else if we don't score we can't win....I'm sure no one wants relegation but watch this space it could come on current form ....looks like a takeover is dead now so forget it buckle down and sort it out....believe me a young side will struggle in the lower leagues
