because i think that if Heckingbottom can do well without being able to spend lots of money, he would be even better if he could buy the players he wanted with the cash that the dwarf has had to spend. I do not rate Lthe dwarf as a manager, but he can talk a great game and he is good at spending someone elses cash. Good luck to him, but I would take Heckingbottom over him 100 times out of 100. Only my opinion , you may think differently, but I do not miss him or his waffle in the slightest.
The most boring football I have ever seen at Oakwell. Nine defeats on the bounce. Deservedly knocked out of the cup by a team who were relegated from the Conference. Thought he was special. In short - a con man. Can't stand the bloke. Cheers.
There has never been a manager I've disliked more than LJ, still can't believe we managed to bring in a compensation fee for him. However, I think a lot of the work done with the players individually that PH gets recognition for was done by LJ, Hourihane, Mawson etc. When you think about it, who exactly has PH turned into a good player? Not quite sure where this concept comes from.
Just for balance, that was followed by 7 straight wins, the first Wembley cup final win in our history and in the same season, promotion from being bottom at Christmas.
Well he must of learned his lesson because he's got us playing some really good stuff, full of pace and energy, Itwas shocking to watch last season though
You must not take Conan's posts too literally. He used to slag LJ off for leaving us with no chance of promotion that year. Except that we errr.... were promoted. So, anyway for a while we had it really bad under Little Lee, but by the time he left he'd turned it round. Seems to be the same pattern at your place.
Yes or no answer (and it's easy question) - was Lee Johnson the manager of Barnsley Football Club when we were promoted? Bonus questions:- What position were we in when he left? Do you understand what a turn of phrase is?
Just for further balance he also went nine matches without a win in March/April 2015. For even further balance he was not the manager when we were promoted.
We were promoted in spite of having LJ as manager for 5 months of the season. I think that goes to show how good a side we had that season. He had a team with Mawson,Roberts,Hourihane, Scowen, Watkins and Winnall sat in the relegation zone of L1 around Christmas time which tells you everything you need to know about him. Might be doing alright at the minute but he's had cash to blow at it and I don't expect they'll stay there anyway. Never known a manager with the luck he's had. Should have been sacked here (he'd have ended up at Cheltenham or somewhere) then after a few good results goes to Bristol City, somehow survives the chop there too.
Know what you're saying mate but even with a few quid to spend you still have to bring in the right player's look at boro spent a fortune and still average
First question is an easy one - I'm a little worried that you need that one answering. Anyway... ... the first bonus answer has to be "one with no chance of promotion"... ... the second bonus answer has to be "not exactly, when you use one"... And I thought I was helping you out when I suggested that you ought not to be taken too literally, with your turns of phrase. Right thicko, me.
Don't worry about it. For some reason Toby is hung up on a comment I made in January 2016. That's how much of a nutcase he is. He still brings it up whenever he can. If I said to you "Rochdale have no chance of winning the FA Cup this year" I am sure you would know exactly what I mean by that. He wouldn't.
Argument? There is literally no chance of Conan and I doing anything more than happily pondering upon his turns of phrase.
