To call them pub league would be kind. It’s been the same for the last three home games. What do they do in training? A) Long balls B) running C) longer balls D) more running
Same with corners. Totally out of ideas. Every single outfield player should have the capability to take an accurate, inswinging corner, with pace. They are the elite of the football... and yet we constantly hit the first defender, float it to nowhere, or balls it up with some stupid short tap. How do we not have numerous options from throw ins, free kicks and corners? We just look clueless.
We seem to create anything from any dead ball situation including throw ins. It's embarrassing. I'm certain that if we'd have got a penalty today, we'd have played a pass towards the corner flag.
Corners, free kicks throw ins lack movement and any fresh ideas, to top it all off Davies time wasting when we are losing was a new low today.
Amazing wasn’t it that we were wasting more time than Derby were. From what I can see there seems to be a few rotten apples in group at the minute.
What we did was demonstrate a kind of rot developing, in not throwing it in quickly. If you've got an idea of what you can do, if you think you might be able to attack, if you're being positive, if you have practised it all week, if you have a plan, then a throw in might not look so much of a problem as it did today. There's the rot, seen it before.
We create more chances for the opposition from our set pieces and dead balls than we do ourselves. What's with the tactic of our centre forward standing five yards from the corner flag on corners.
I don't want to go all Hemsworth Tyke about efforts during warm ups but at half time the subs were just half heartedly kicking towards each other before eventually just standing around doing nothing.
I noticed that too. Hammill was just doing kick ups while the rest just casually rolled the ball about a bit. Seems a serious lack of motivation about the place at the moment, and I'm not finger pointing as that includes us, the fans, too.
All this talk about tactics or lack of them, unfortunately has to be laid at the coaching staff's door.
We've never been any good at throw ins, going back decades. It's not a new thing. Other teams seem to pick the ball up and take it quickly to a team mate. Ours just take so long to make a decision that it is given away 95% of the time. Even the Roberts long throws were in that category - most found a defender and were cleared.
