I’m ready to upload another vid to YouTube but it takes ages so I’ll let you choose V Rotherham in 81 or Man City in league cup in 81. These are the full 40 mins highlights as broadcast at the time. I’m doing this on Twitter as well so let’s see what wins! COME ON YOU REDS!
Have you come across any footage of our away win against southampton in the fa cup? 84 i think. One of the best away days.
I don’t think any footage exists. I’ve got a Calendar report previewing the Liverpool tie in the next round and it uses black and white photos to illustrate the Saints tie.
Brilliant Kendraytyke! I remember that header of Macca's and thinking at the time he must have damn near broke the net with that. Trev's still looks brilliant, but it's funny how in your mind over the years he scores it from further and further out! Many thanks.
I was at both games and both were memorable, but the Rotherham game shades it for me. At the time Rotherham were a bit of a bogey team for us so I expected a tough game and a narrow defeat. At the time I lived in Cambridge and the Anglia TV football highlights on sunday afternoon included our game - simply because it was such a fantastic game.
John Helm who is in the studio describes it as “one of the games of the season” I’d love to see the full game.
I was there that night , great performance & I remember the Southampton fans being rather upset, which resulted in us getting coined at full time , very dangerous, but I think the groundsman will have picked up a few bob the next day !
Like you , I was at both games & the Rotherham match was one of my best ever away days but seeing big Trevs goal still makes the hair stand up on the back of my arms , true class !
There is absolutely nothing this or any other club can do to reproduce the atmosphere at those kind of games. If you're too young to have been in attendance then unfortunately you missed out. I would pay £200 a ticket to take my kids to one of those games
I took my girlfriend Wendy to Millmoor that day, she was from Bishops Stortford and had never been to a football match and never even watched it on TV. If you'd have asked she would have said she couldn't stand football, she only went because I persuaded her. Anyway, at full-time she was absolutely buzzing with the excitement of the game and the superb atmosphere.
Me too, wonderful football, fantastic atmosphere and a great result. By the way, Stuart Barrowclough was my MOTM, absolutely tormented their defence.
