All I've seen in this last 24 hours is negative posts after negative posts.

Let's get behind them. Yes they are going to change things but that will be a good thing.

Been worried about been a feeder club and worrying about FFP's just silly.

FFP's not a problem for us at the moment because the amount of income we've taken in the last few years. If it was ever to become a income that's good because it means they are spending big money on players to improve us. They can get money into the club quite easily because they all own many businesses outside of Football which could sponsor Barnsley football club to a very high level.

Let's just get behind them. I'm not too fussed about them improving fan stuff but the Academy and first team. YES.

What will this mean? Will it mean Barnsley becoming a tier one Academy? If so Barnsley will be the only tier 1 Academy and surely a step to getting all the best youngsters in the area with our good rep already. Or will this mean just improving what we are already doing at cat 2?

All I ask of them is to be ruthless in the pursuit to make Barnsley Football club improve and don't think the fans are ever against them.

Getting done soon isn't it? Met last week. Be amazed if it takes 7 months to be done. You think it'll take 7 months from what October Andy?

I think the negativity you talk of is more people expressing concern for the club they love going forward.

Change is always a concern for anybody especially when you have little idea of what is planned going forward.

Hopefully the press conference this afternoon will put some people's concern to rest.

People need to trust Mr Cryne of what he's done. All I do is read negative about these people.

One person a few weeks ago wanted to start slagging off Nice Football Club. That's embarrassing. Noticed they haven't made a thread since they got through the Europa group K with Lazio and are 6th in Ligue Un and on the rise.

These people have set out what they want to do. ''we expect to further enhance the academy, playing squad, commercial operations and fan experience of Barnsley Football Club.'' They are investing in a business. They'll not be happy with level will they?

I'd be amazed it went through at all. Why would anyone buy a club that look like they are going to be relegated out of the premier league?

I agree completely with the OP's statement.
"We'll only spend ten bob more"
    "Feeder club"
"We'll get ****'d over now in the transfer window'
    'Ticket's 'ell go up"
    and on and on....

Remember this when you go mental at them for giving Hecky a new deal in a week or 2...

I have seen no negativity mate. Excitement was the theme of the board yesterday. Childlike excitement in my case. Who knows whether we will be the new Man City or the new Blackburn. I'll just embrace it and see where it takes us. After a rough few years since admin (however with a fair few highs thrown in) and a crap recent run, yesterday was the dawn of a new era and OUR DAY IN THE SUN. I loved it. Can't wait now.

As for Newcastle, whether it takes them 7 days, 7 weeks or 7 months, I give not a single **** of the flying variety.

    Seasons greetings kiddo.

Contracts mean nothing and he knows it. They will expect improvement. Look at ALL the other Chinese investment clubs in the UK and Europe.

The fact it's him is definitely ironic: the statement however does have some validity.

    Well I'm cautiously optimistic personally.

If this deal had just come out of the blue, without the reports that the consortium had been targeting other clubs, then I would have been worried. After all, for every Abramovic theres an Oyston. For every Sheikh Mansour theres a Venkys family. And don't get me started on Chansiri! But the fact they already own Nice, and and are looking at clubs which are reportedly well run gives me confidence...

I don't for one minute think they are going to spunk £50 million quid on players next month, or going to change the "Plan" radically, but if they target young, hungry players of a better callibre, and farm out some of Nice's players(a la Watford) then it should keep us up this year and provide a platform to build on.

    Excellent stuff.
How anyone would be anything other than 'cautiously optimistic' is beyond me.

Apart from the fact that the amount of people that are negative towards the takeover is so small, that it's not really worthy of a post.

The vast majority range from wildly excited to cautiously happy.

I’m not critical or negative just realistic having dealt professionally with Hedge Funds their primary and only focus is profitability. It is a big change from someone who’s primary focus was keeping the club alive. I trust Patrick to have chosen the right people and that we are in good hands. I’m not naive enough to expect some sort of spending spree. We will go on as before but maybe shop in Asda rather than Barnsley Market.
