He's been an unused sub in a couple of their recent matches, but I do agree that overall he's a regular. My point is not to criticise any of the players (except Winnall of course). I would have done the same, in their position. My point is that the finances of the game are so daft that rich clubs can effectively decimate poorer clubs in the same division, not by hammering them on the field with better players, but by buying their best players and sticking them in the players' lounge during matches. I think it's bonkers.
Winnall has been nearly exclusively from the bench. And I have Bradshaw at 8 from 24 as it's league goals that matter. 2 of those weren't his either (in my opinion I accept he has been credited with them). I like Bradshaw and he is starved of service, but it's clear to Winnall is the better goal scorer.
Thank you for telling me that Alfie Mawson is a premier league player, just as I wrote in my original post.
I think he was objecting to your outrageous comment that he is getting hammered every week. Oh, hang on .....
Bradshaw has 8 in 24 in the league. And let's be honest he pinched 2 of those. I keep saying when I hear people say Bradshaw is just as good as Winnall they are just hurt at him leaving.
Winnall had Hourihane's service. Bradshaw is as good a finisher as Winnall. Just doesn't get the same service and we don't play to his strengths.
Said higher up he doesn't get the same level of service but he is not as good a finisher. Misses quite a few chances. Also Winnall despite being about the same hight was a bigger threat in the air. What exactly are his strengths? He isn't a threat in the air and he's not a threat in behind. Think he needs a partner but we don't have anyone suitable at the club. I like Bradshaw and at times this season it has been a thankless task. I wonder if he will be offered a new contract? He would be very useful if we do go down.
I've always known/thought Bradshaw to be a last man/poacher. The season we got promoted, I think he scored about 20 goals that season. I might be wrong, but I bet the majority were inside 12 yards and scored with his feet, rather than his head. I agree, he needs a partner but I'd say with the same service and help as Winnall got, he'd get just as many goals.
So not the kind of striker we need then really as one of the poorer teams in the league we are hardly going to be camped in the opposition area. Suppose we will never know bit he did feature a lot at the start of last season when Winnall was injured and didn't score many. Don't want to come across as though I'm having a go at him. He works so hard and as you rightly point out the service has been terrible this season. Just feel he will always need a few chances to get a goal.
Only not the type we need because of how we adopt our tactics. Its pretty obvious we have gone more tighter as a team in recent games to try and stop shipping goals. If we had a go he might get more, but our inability to defend properly has stopped that at the moment. 1 in 3 this season is pretty good for a loan striker who gets the ball lumped at his head 90% of the time...
Not bad in a really poor team either. As I said I'm not knocking the lad. I perosnally think Winnall is a better striker. I've not seen anything to convince otherwise of that. Saying he would score more if we made more chances is purely conjecture.
Hourihane’s played almost every game & most Villa fans seem to rate him. Scowen’s been brilliant for QPR, read fans wanting him as captain. I get your point though. Most of the rest aren’t doing well but to be fair they probably knew that when they went & decided the money was worth it. It’s a shame. For example I don’t ever believe Winnall thought he’d be in the Wednesday side ahead of Forestieri, Hooper & Fletcher & I don’t believe Watkins expected to get a start at a Norwich side still receiving parachute payments.
