Unusual situation

    We are in the unusual situation where part of the group of new owners also took over another club last year. So rather than second guess every decision they will make, we can look for clues there. We have to be careful because the make up of each board is slightly different and we are comparing the English championship with the French ligue 1 and the town of Barnsley against the internationally known city of nice, but all the same there are some parallels there that would be useful to understand.

    Has anybody tried to find a Nice version of the BBS? It would be interesting to understand the average Nice supporters thoughts on their takeover and what changes have taken place.

    From what l have read a lot of their fans are asking for substantial investment, a bit like the level Chansiri has done at Wednesday.

    Around 10-15 years ago Nice were a 2nd division club, they were demoted to the third tier due to Financial regulations, a few seasons were then spent stabilising the club by selling players. Just before Chien got involved they moved into a £200 million pound stadium. After his involvment they signed Ballotelli and Sneijder and a few other big earners. A new state of the art academy was built, only Man Citys in this country could better it. They also qualified for the champions league whilst also having less than 8,000 supporters at one of their home league fixtures in the same season. They average around 22,000.

    Their forum seems extremely inactive to be honest. Only one post about us and even then, barely any others about owt else

    Looks a bit too official, unlike this independent bag of ******, where people can spout off all sorts of rubbish (within reason) without too much fear of recrimination.
