Two polls running at the moment - and it's quite revealing. Consensus is - overwhelming majority support him - but a third think he will leave for Forest.
But you haven’t. You’ve liked pretty much every post that’s been made towards getting rid of him now.
Abso-fcukin-lutely. Why should Hecky be pushed under the bus for the failings above him? The team Hecky created and had flying up the league last December was the best imo I've seen at this level in my time since the Wilson promotion team, playing exhilarating football. (Bassett's was also good to watch but that was more to do with individuals like Higgy rather than the all-round team play). For anyone who wants to perpetuate the myth that this was not Hecky's team, it's just wrong. The eleven around which that run was based was:- Davies, Bree, Yiadom, Roberts, MacDonald, Scowen, Morsy, Hourihane, Kent, Winnall and Bradshaw. Only three of those were regulars in the side that LJ eventually got winning - Davies, Hourihane and Winnall (all of whom LJ had p!ssed off at various points). Five out of ten outfield players weren't even at the club under Johnson, Roberts was banished not to return until Hecky took over, Bree was just starting out and Scowen on the bench and filling in out of position. The failure to keep that side together may or may not have been inevitable - the best chance to do so was missed by the ownership in the summer of 2016 - but we can be damned sure that it wasn't 'owt to do with Hecky that it wasn't. In footballing terms it was a 'no-brainer' to keep it together, history shows that the sides that come up from league 1 and then do well in the Championship, or go straight up again, such as Bournemouth, Southampton, Norwich, Swansea and others in recent times do so by keeping the momentum and keeping their teams intact (people will say that clubs like Southampton have constant turnover - yes, they do but they only started that when they got to the PL). I can't think of any club that has turned over virtually its full squad and downgraded across the board, in the Championship, in 8 months, and done anything other than struggle. That Hecky has had to put up with all that and yet still has us in with a fighting chance to stay up should mean that the questions being asked are given short shrift. In economic terms one can only wonder how much more it would have cost to pay three good midfielders in Hourihane, Morsy and Scowen attractive wages as opposed to the cost of transfer fees, signing on-fees, agents fees and three years of salary for the plethora of not very good/not ready ones that we have now, Moncur, Potts, Mallan, Mowatt, McGeehan et al, not to mention loan fees for James, Gardner and Williams. I'd suggest it wouldn't. (And whatever fee we got for Conor would be dwarfed by the loss of income from relegation). Given backing and the right tools Hecky will get us going again. Time for those above Hecky to get their act together this week.
How can he force the spreadsheet to find championship ready players designed to win matches when it was made to look for dirt cheap players who will be good enough 2 years later to sell for money?
Back him all the way but have an evaluation at the end of the season to see how everything is progressing coaching wise
In Hecky we trust. Let’s see what this transfer window brings and evaluate at the end of the season. I have a good feeeling that this transfer window will produce a few surprises that will get us moving up the league: get the Town Hall steps swept just in case though..........
Backing him for now, but lets review based on our signings and subsequent performance to the end of the season.
