My only worry is this new contract being signed. Hecky is a clever guy & he'll be using interest from other clubs as leverage, as anyone with a brain would do. Forest could be a career ending move for him.

We are talking about a very small minority of people here.

It won’t ever be backed and supported anywhere more than he is here.

Having said that if Forest offered me a shed load of cash and I was struggling to get results then I would move. Let’s face it if we replicate the last 12 games in the next 12, he will be sacked.

I doubt it - I think it would be a good career move. It would probably set him for life and he would be better off being sacked by Forest than by Barnsley

I think there’s a real chance he’ll go to Forest. I really do.

It’s not quite the sinking ship Sunderland is/was, and the number of dissenting voices on here and elsewhere is growing worryingly rapidly.

We will perhaps sign a couple of players this week; but if we then lose to the outstanding team in the division anyway, that will of course prove we are doomed and the snowball of those wanting him out will gain a few more voices.

I think Hecky will seriously consider whether this job is still as right for him as it clearly was and should still be. People have turned on him very quickly considering all the circumstances. We all hoped for better results but I also hoped more would see how hamstrung he has been for the last twelve months.

I am not one that thinks always dragging up the events of three and a half decades ago should be done - but I do wonder if the fact it is Nottingham Forest and the fact that Paul grew up in 80’s Barnsley may have a bearing in his decision. Other than Sheffield there’s not many less popular places amongst Barnsley fans he could leave for.

To be clear, I want him to stay. I’m not certain he will, but hopeful.

I find your level of certainty worrying.

I think it would be a bad move....13 managers (including caretakers) since 2012 doesn't suggest he'd be long in the job....and not being a headline capture would leave him even more vulnerable to fans wanting him out early doors.

1.all our best players get flogged
    2. the Sunderland roll,
    3.takeover
4.Jan transfer window 4 days in.
    5. Forest or sack ?in middle of a transfer window..less than a month after a takeover ..

This is how I see it, if our poor run continues and or we get relegated then IMO he will be sacked. However, at Forest they will likely offer him a more lucrative contract, are not likely to get relegated this season (barring a disastrous run but again IMO there are 3 poorer teams than them in this league).

Can't see why he would go to forest. He'll be under pressure from the off there.

His record at Barnsley in 2017 is woeful, make no bones about it. Their fans won't give a toss about what happened last January. They'll want results, as will their owners.

As long as our owners don't back him he's in safe mode here. Team keeps losing, but he's still mega popular.

I'd actually be astounded if he went to Forest, for a multitude of reasons.

I’d be very surprised if he went to Forest.

    Got to stay here.

Apparently he's been offered a new and improved new contract with us and insists that that is not
a priority. What is important to him is the recruitment of players capable of lifting us clear of the lower
reaches of the Championship, during the current window.
From everything we've seen and heard he appears fully committed to Barnsley FC and I personally believe the new owners will give him the resources and more importantly the time to put things right.

Talking to folk that know the people involved. Things can change, but if I knew how to put a bet on as we stand here today I’d bet on him leaving

Now 5/2 at odds checker and gone from 1/3 to 8/13 on skybet.

Dis is why I don’t bet.

Fully agree it should be the start of something great with hecky at the helm as the new owners said in the interview that he being local was a part of the things that made bfc a no brainer to takeover. So if hecky leaves now then like you say the reasons why would be very interesting but the new owners may have their own manager lined up we just don't know.
