Not sure why we need a suspect talent from a distant league the standard of which is hard to judge when we have George Moncur on the roster, not to mention Mallan. If Hecky wanted to play them he would.

Moncur has had plenty of chances, and has struggled since Matty James left. He's got the ability but doesn't look interested. It wouldn't surprise me if he's back in League One at some point this month.

IMHO I just don't see this lack of interest thing with Moncur. If the team struggles then it's hard to shine who ever you are. When I've seen him he offers something different. What he needs is to pop in a few goals like he did at Colchester. Just prefer to work with what we have rather than think another transfer is the way. Right enough never seen the Austrian guy, but his career seems to have gone backward somewhat.

I watched Moncur very closely at Brentford. Off the ball, he was a complete waste of space. I know that's only one game but I can see why he gives the impression of not being interested. He has talent but doesn't want to do much off the ball. He's a player that needs carrying and we can't do that.

Agreed, I seem to remember similar things being said about a previous midfielder a few seasons back, Conor somebody-or-other.....

Even when we first brought him in, Conor offered a lot more on the ball than Moncur ever has. I'd love Moncur to do well, but what he offers on the ball isn't enough to warrant carrying him through games.

I don't think Moncur is in the same league as Conor but when I've seen him, both last season and this season, he's added a touch of class otherwise sadly missing. Deserves a run in the team for me.

Moncur likes the idea of being a footballer rather than the actual hard work of the job imo.

I actually agree with this. I must be seeing something different to most, but when I've seen him he always wants the ball and never hides.

An attacking midfielder with an eye for goal getting deployed as a box to box midfielder. Another wasted CAM we have in our team because we dont tend to play the formation with a CAM role. Feel for Mallan for this reason because he seems a talent

I'd rather us look at a decent championship standard player and pay the going wages. It's false economy having a squad of 30 on **** money Id rather have a decent 18 on average wages

So who is going to do his pressing, tracking back, and tackling while he's being balletic on the odd occasion he gets the ball?

I never said he was perfect and I never said he was a complete replacement for Hourihane.
