I'd be interested to know why you don't like him?

Some on here don’t like Moncur because they say he doesn’t put the effort in.

I have the same opinion on Macdonald.

Fair enough. I look forward to your further insights.

Also it is not that I don’t like Macdonald. I support all Barnsley FC players.

I thought he was brilliant last season.

This season based on information which came from the players own social media accounts and his performances/ behaviour on the field I formed an OPINION he wasn’t showing great professionalism.

I felt my opinion was backed up when he tweeted the word ‘Focus’ just before he returned to the side after his spell out which started when he was suspended after his poor behaviour versus Sheff United.

The tweet could have been unrelated to football. I don’t know.

In contrast to what I saw from Macdonalds social media I also saw Adam Jackson in the gym at least 5 out of 7 mornings a week throughout the summer and into the season.

We all saw first hand how their performances appeared to have switched from last season. Again this may be relevant to what I’ve seen it may not. But my opinion is it was relevant.

Whether I’m right or wrong to form a judgement based on Macdonald from his social media is up for debate. However I just wanted to clarify where my opinion has come from.

As for Macdonalds recent omission from the side I do not know. He now only appears to put football or fitness related posts on his social media. Rather than holidays, takeaways, tattoos, clothing, cars ect. As he is captain of a professional football club I get much more encouragement from this that he is now doing the correct things.

In terms of what Hecky has said, he took him off for footballing reason against reading. He was then out of the side due to a virus. Most recently it has been said he’s out of the team for footballing reasons.

Hecky has said Gus knows standards dropped and he’s working hard to get back in the side.

I’m sure this is now the case and hopefully we’ll see the best of him again soon.

Hecky must have been of the opinion that he could be developed into a Championship central defender, and hopefully that's still the case. I have to say though that at the moment, he's behind Lindsay, Pinnock and Jackson in my opinion.

If anyone has missed recent comments regarding Macdonald being out of the side then here they are. I’ve gave my opinion on why I’ve said certain things on here about Macdonald and also feel I’ve given at least some evidence to back my comments up.

I’ll draw a line under it after this post and hope Angus does get back in the side as he was fantastic for us last season and did some top work in the community.

As for anyone trying to use mental health issues to make me feel guilty or bad regarding my comments I’m afraid you’re just as bad if not worse than you think I am to use something like that when it is completely unconfirmed. I’ve at least given some background to where my opinion has come from. If anyone has any evidence regarding what has been said in this thread then I will apologise now for the ‘tossitoffitus’ comment.

    Hecky on Angus post Fulham-

“I can only put 18 on the bench it’s as simple as that”

Hecky on Angus pre Reading after being on the bench boxing and Ill in the week -

“Yeah that’s it he’s just got to work his way back in the team”

Hecky on Angus pre Millwall -

“Angus is fit, training, although he’s not training today actually we’re running some fitness tests on Angus today so he’ll be out of the group so yes he’s fit.

We want to get Angus back to the levels that he was at last season, even last season we were always working on bits with him and Angus is the first to admit that’s he’s dropped below but every player goes through things like this, we just want to get to the bottom of everything and work really hard with him to get him back in the side.”

Hecky on Angus pre Wolves -

We’ve performed some different sorts of tests on him, physical testing so we’re just waiting to get results back from that before we come up with a plan to start changing things. He’s knows he has (been below par), you look at performance first but then you try things to try and get to the bottom of every issue.

Thankfully we have 2 centre backs playing brilliantly. We also have Jackson coming back. Let Angus get back up to speed & support him when he does get some game time. He was a rock last season, but maybe too much was put on his shoulders at the start of the season That's not his fault, if anyone it was the failure to keep Roberts / or to get someone with a bit of experience in the spine of the team. Thankfully now players are growing into the role & Angus will have to fight his way back into the team. He's a young lad & will be back better & stronger in my opinion.

He has iron deficiency, according to Hecky today. Explains a lot imo. I had it last summer and couldn't run for ****. Oxygen can't get to where it needs to go. He'll be fine once they've sorted it.
