I’m confused how anyone wanting to sign a couple of players who have played at this level, in this country, to complement the number who before this season haven’t, or are currently struggling to, is somehow “bashing” or not excited about players most of the non football manager fans have even heard of. They may be world beaters. May not. Almost every season you can point to one or two experienced players coming in to help us either stave off relegation, turn our season around, or push us towards play offs.
We signed O’Grady from a championship club where he had been playing. He had plenty of experience some at the relevant level. Vaz Te was at a difficult point in his career doesn’t take way him playing at a higher level than us. That’s exactly the sort of project you need to be looking for. Da Silva was signed from a premiership club in the days when we used to loan players with a view to signing them.
I don't think they became billionaires by buying football clubs and I think our budget will be same as before living within our means.
Playing the same game aren’t you? It’s futile cos I’ve no idea what we will pay and what people will come for will come for. What’s being said is we don’t want to consider anyone outside the scope
Neymar or no one..... Can you let me know who is available and I’ll give you a few names. I don’t have contacts with every championship or premiership club, or even agents, to know who is available.
Yes I hadn’t even touched upon Adam Hammill or Kevin Long. Two players that were instrumental in turning our season around that inevitably led to promotion. We would not have got promoted without their influence. Indeed. I am happy with our plan if we are still calling it that. You will always need some level of experience and an ability to adapt it to move forwards. Of course people are not excited by someone they have never heard of. Unless you have seen them okay and been impressed why would you be? I’m not bashing anyone. I can see the logic in shopping abroad. More bang for your buck as they say. You have to supplement that with players who will make an immediate impact to take the pressure off them as they adapt.
Jesus wept. We're going round in circles here. We can ALL pull up examples of players who can prove whatever argument we're trying to make. As I said earlier. David Currie. Fourth Division. Would I like the David Currie we signed from Darlington to be in the team on Saturday? Hell yes. Doesn't prove or disprove anything though. Cross your fingers that we're buying the best that we think are available and get behind them!
They don’t have a clue. The best bit about it all is they talk like it’s my decision not to sign proven Championship players. It’s asif they think the club purposely try not to sign the best possibly players they can.
You think ergo you have no idea. I could say it’s 50p and a blackies egg you could say it’s 400 million quid never of us know so it’s ridiculous to speculate. Without knowing you couldn’t possibly suggest players nor could you or anyone else say we can’t afford them because you don’t know.
O Grady wasn't playing much, hence why they loaned and then sold him. Or at least not playing well. Vaz Te had just been released by hibs after having a handful of sub appearances in the prem when he was younger. Da Silva couldn't get a sniff at everton. Terrible examples of championship experience.
All players with experience of playing at Championship level and above. All successful. All sold for profit except DaSilva. Pretty stonking examples.
It's Wages we cant afford if we are to live within our means. When players in this league like Stephen Fletcher are raking in nearly 30k a week no wonder we are looking at young up and coming players.
I agree with you there. When we signed say Scotland and Harewood do you think we were paying them 30 grand a week each?
Haha perhaps have a closer look at their careers mate. Maybe we should be in for David Ngog or Frank Nouble this window.
