..... after the Cardiff match Hecky was saying we are still not working the referee. And today we were too unprofessional. Foul after foul on Barnsley players was being waved away by the referee today - because the Barnsley players didn't make enough of it. The foul on Cavare immediately before he got sent off was a prime example.
Rarely agree with much that you write but I do with the first three lines of that. As a crowd as well we are the worst in the division by a country mile for letting **** refs get away with murder and not making it difficult for them. There are a load of grounds in this league where if that ref had given that performance against the home team today, he would have been slaughtered.
Problem with that is we get so many **** ones it makes no difference if we slaughter them or not. We still get crap decisions against us regardless.
We are far too honest and I'm a huge fan of being honest! We do have to be street wise, which is not cheating at all, but being wise enough to gain a fair advantage and not be made mugs of. Interesting point regarding Oakwell. I often used to think it was a relatively hostile crowd for referees. Many a quiet game has been livened up by a poor referee. But yes, the general decline in atmosphere and enthusiasm has probably extended to our 'appreciation' of the referees performances!
Agree. We are being shafted week in, week out by teams (especially those that have been in the PL). Last year Reading and Fulham, this year Cardiff and Fulham. From my viewpoint, Sessengnon left his foot behind to try and get a penalty. Except there was nothing near him. Booking for diving. No! Booking for Cavare! (No excuses later for Cavare btw he deserved a straight red.). Their no 8 was at the ref all game. One player had 2 hands on the ref. On it goes. Continual backchat. We need to wise up. Bradshaw gets kicked all over the pitch but just carries on.
I was in line with sessegnons run and cavare knew what he was doing. He did put foot in way to clip him so he wouldn't burst in to box tbf but whether it was actually worthy of a yellow is slightly debatable.. But i guess it wouldnt have mattered because of the incident later. If he wasnt on a yellow he mightve been straight off anyway
its because we have a team largely full of kids who have no professional guile. This is why we need at least 3 players in each of the outfield dept who know the rub... our lot are so green... and wet behind the ears. At present we are Boys against Men on most occasions
How many times can we keep saying the same things though, and making the same excuses that the refs are sh*it and incompetent ?.
Thing is though theyre not just **** and incompetent for us, theyre **** and incompetent full stop. So over a season there shitness and incompetence has to even itself out. I actually think theyve got worse since they turned "professional"
Couldn't agree more a few of our players were pushed by fulham lads and all I could think was go down.
The ref didn’t wave away the foul on Cavare that led to the sending off, he was trying to play an advantage as it looked initially like Cavare was heading towards goal. However, the advantage didn’t materialise and the ref brought the play back as he should. What happened after was stupid, but the foul was not ‘waved away’
