I'm surprised that there hasn' been more comments on the refs completely inadequate and uncompetent display which caused the sending off. Cavare was stupid for why he did but 5 minutes before he had been booked for an accidental leg tussle with their star player who had launched himself in to the box. The guy who then tried to foul Cavare when he cut inside made a dangerous, cyncial and aggressive challenge from behind with no real consequences initially when number 8 for them who committed the foul should have been booked after about t minutes for taking Mallan at hip height and wasn' eve spoken to. We get som bad refs but he was the worst I have seen this season.
I’m more and more convinced that referres are corrupt. Otherwise their incompetence would apply to both teams and yesterday he essentially let Fulham run that match. BTW - I ******* hate Fulham. ******* hobby club.
The referee did little wrong as far as I could see and it's time we stopped ranting at refs to cover up our own inadequacies and bad decisions.
I thought the ref was poor and inconsistent yesterday but he certainly didn't cost us the game. We've had a lot worse at Oakwell.
The ref was having a decent game until our goal, it appears he then had a crisis of conscience for allowing it and preceded to favour and give them everything. Not sure if it was only me who saw their player cheating and doing a swan dive in the penalty box seconds before they equalized but the ref should have blown his whistle and booked their player for that..... Fulham then don’t go 1-1 4 mins into 2nd half! That said .... we didn’t lose because of the ref, we lost because we couldn’t do the basics right for 95mins and defend!
The ref was absolutely rubbish. Got simple decisions wrong and was on the verge of totally losing control when he blew for half time. Nobody can defend a referee who draws a line where a free kick must be taken from and then watches as the player places the ball considerably in front of that line and pretends he can't see it. On more than one occasion too
The referee was poor, but he can only take part of the blame for me. Fulham blatantly tried to cheat at every opportunity, and on more than one occasion, successfully deceived the referee. Referee's already gave a difficult job without even considering the possibility that one team will have players simulating so much.
The referee saw it though yet never booked anyone. Do that and the rest will think twice. Let them get away with it and it's open season
I suppose so. That said, he didn't even get the obvious ones right. I mean the lad that fouled Cavare before the red card incident, was given a booking for the foul on Cavare, which wasn't anywhere near as bad as the one he committed on Mallan in the first 10 minutes or so.
Had the referee been more competent it could easily have been Fulham going down to 10 men rather than us. That foul on Mallan was horrific and a certain yellow card, but he didn’t even get a talking to. Had he been booked he would then have been sent off later. Similarly, it was a blatant dive that led to Cavare’s first booking.
I didn' say it wasn' a definite red. That can' be defended. However, the refs lack of control and inconsistency contributed to Cavares actions.
imho ....we just dont have the "cuteness" in our own players to "play" the ref. 90% of teams in this division do because they have the experience and know how to do it. i made a comment when we first arrived in this division...at least connor and winnall were moaners.....now we are at the mercy of poor officials. I try to never have a go at them but he did give them a very high percentage of the 50/50 s yesterday and the (ahem) challange on mallan looked red card material....that said i thought hammill was correctly subbed to save more embarrassment and the ref an easy decision. i was very proud of the reds yesterday...but we do need to get smart and "play the refs" at times.
Youre saying the first yellow should be rescinded because of Sessegnons cheating? If so I totally agree
He rightly sent off Cavare, didn't book Davies for his blatant timewasting and didn't chalk off our offside goal. Thought he had a good game.
Out Out wasn't offside. The keeper was behind him, a defender was on the far post and another was laid down with his head practically on the line to the side of the goal
if you apply the letter of the law it should be rescinded, but in all reality we're not going to appeal it are we? Should have been a straight red anyway. Sessegnon's superb forward roll undoubtedly led to Cavare losing it though. Not that that is an excuse for his actions, merely an explanation on a day when Hecky & the crowd had the team pumped up. (We nearly pulled it off in the first half up to that point too).
I disagree, after being the better side until the sending off the referee, at bare minimum, should have been issuing a 2nd yellow to johansen this having 10 v 10 for the entire 2nd half. The result of which may have kept Bradshaw on, Moore wouldn’t have been knackered and we wouldn’t have been playing 9 v 11 with thiam at what turned out to be the crucial part of the game. Cavares childish, petulant act ultimately cost us the game but the referees inability to deal with their number 8 going in to do mallan was just as bigger factor.
