That’s the thing though. Theoretically it isn’t anyone’s money, it’s the clubs. We’ve spent a fraction of what’s come in and what’s due to come in, with instalments of sales. FFP doesn’t come into it really because we are so far in the black.
I bet Brentford would have kept at least two of Roberts, Scowen and Watkins. I reckon we'd be ok if we had .
It’s the clubs shareholders who will have to foot the bill when we’re making losses, or otherwise let us go into liquidation. I wouldn’t call that theoretical.
No I'm not. Wigan, Bournemouth and a few more clubs have done that and I would be uneasy with it, simply because I have called them for doing it. Having said that, we are traditionally a better club than both of those, and have comfortably spent the majority of our history at this level. We have a decent stadium capacity so potential to get bums on seats. I certainly wouldn't be against the new owners doing something speculative.
Good point. The club's books could look healthy, but the product they're selling is poor quality. Maybe the fact that gates are so healthy, indicates to them that were all very happy. I don't think they'll be as high next season.
18 isn't enough, we'd be struggling to put out a matchday squad. We've currently got Pinnock, Jackson, isgrove injured. Add a few suspensions and we'd be down to the bare bones.
