Cavare was only given a 2nd yellow card for his act of madness, I don't know why, but he was. When you factor in that the first yellow card was given for "successful deception of a referee", which apparently gets reviewed nowadays, is it likely that Cavare will get the bare minimum punishment from the FA? I don't agree with the notion that 'he should never play for the club again', but should obviously be punished by the club in some way for effectively costing us a game.
The red should be rescinded in my opinion, but it won’t be. Because we’re Barnsley. It won’t even get looked at.
Because the first wasn’t a yellow card. And if the first wasn’t a yellow card, the second yellow wouldn’t result in a sending off. Simple as that. You can debate whether the second should have been a straight red (which I don’t think it should have been), but you can’t upgrade a yellow to a red through retrospective action when the referee has seen it and decided it was a yellow card. But you can take retrospective action when the referee has been decievied by a dive, for which he incorrectly gave a free kick and booked Cavare. It’s not going to happen though.
I don't know why people are complaining. He should have got a straight red for the punch. The ref was lenient only giving him a yellow for it even if it meant he was off anyway.
After watching the incident several times on TV. Whilst admitting it was foolish, it wasn't a punch but a shove in the back which in turn led to a clash of heads with Mallan. Which made the incident look worse than intended. So no straight red from me.
Maybe in the strict laws of the game but rarely if any. Is a red card given for that type of incident. ( Shove in the back ) .
Heard some of you saying he should never play for us again but putting this incident aside he's not a bad player.
“VIOLENT CONDUCT Violent conduct is when a player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball, or against a team-mate, team official, match official, spectator or any other person, regardless of whether contact is made. In addition, a player who, when not challenging for the ball, deliberately strikes an opponent or any other person on the head or face with the hand or arm, is guilty of violent conduct unless the force used was negligible.” Raising your hands doesnt automatically mean a straight red unless it’s in the head or face. Cavare pushed him in the back. The question is whether it was “excessive force” or “brutality”. The referee deemed it was neither and it’s about the only thing he got right. It was made to look worse because he bumped into Mallan, but I’m pretty sure that wasn’t the intention, nor was it a particularly impactful clash, despite the playacting. It certainly wasn’t “brutal”.
