EverythingMFC @EverythingMFC Barnsley are looking into a loan deal for Ashley Fletcher, despite a ‘huge’ difference in wage #boro #barnsleyfc (@reluctantnicko Keeping to the wage structure dint last long if true....
Tony Pulis said on Friday no players will leave on loan, if they want em buy em was the general gist. Obviously 10 players will now leave middlesboro on loan this week
I'd be gobsmacked if this happened. We made an offer early in the window to take him on loan but Boro only want a sale and not a loan. Last I heard the club was willing to leave this one until the last minute and hope Boro decided he may aswell leave on loan. Really not sure about it though. Be a cracking signing.
I know that Hecky obviously likes him, but I have to say that I'm sceptical that he's the fully-formed Championship forward that we require.
He would compliment Moore up front, obviously all depending on what midfielders we bring in. I reckon 4-4-2 is what Hecky ideally wants.
Yeah, I realise that, and I agree with your second point. But in terms of quality, do we have any evidence that he can cut it in the Championship? If we're going to smash the wage budget getting someone in, not sure I'd choose Fletcher. If we could somehow get him on a permanent for a few million then that would be a different matter, as I think he's a quality player who'll get better. But as the Scotland/Harewood-style short term signing to pull us out of trouble?
Yes, but we haven't really moved forward. The players who got us here weren't rewarded, which is one of the reasons we lost them for so little. And now this season we are struggling because we haven't replaced those players with like for like quality.
Loan with a view to buy. To be fair, Ash has yet to justify his price tags and has only really proven himself at the back end of our last league one season. Smashing the wage structure would unsettle the players already here, like that really matters. Bottom line is, what club do the new owners think they have bought, Champ or lge 1? It's like buying a player, if you get them on the cheap, you will be expected to spend the change somewhere else...
Million miles away in terms of salary. Only way I can see it happening is if Boro agree to pay a massive whack. Just can't see it.
We won the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, we won promotion from Division 1 and ended up in the Championship top ten before the players were all sold.
I can't see smashing the wage structure causing too much grief. Lets face it. The players we have arent exactly "earning" a championship wage at the minute
Why a loan ??? Isn't a loan to find out if a player is good enough? Or to bring a young player in from a Premeirship club? Fletcher dosent fit any of those criteria. Hecky knows all there is to know about Fletcher. So why a loan? If Barnsley is to move on to the next stage - then this sort of recruitment has to be a PURCHASE.
