it’s human nature to gossip, and it’s crazy to think how huge the demand for transfer rumours is. Typically we’ll hear whispers of who we’re after maybe a month before the window. But whispers are whisper and it’s anybodys guess who we’ll actually sign.. we get no benefit From it and in all honesty 90% of the time we’re thinking about players we’re not going to sign. Then, journos, DarfieldRed and RAC etc give us reputable nuggets of info, and then we know and we get excited... but to me it always makes the official announcement a bit flat, because by that point we’ve known about the poor lad who’s just signed for weeks and we’re already thinking about the next one. Would you rather know that Harrison Manzala was about to sign and binned us off for more money then liked posts that mocked our league position on twitter? I think I’d rather be blissfully ignorant to be honest. But I just can’t help it, I love trying to find out who we’re getting next. Realistically the breaking news and transfer leaks do nothing for us, that 24 extra hours of knowledge changes nothing on the pitch yet we all love it so much. The last days of January will be my least productive working days of the year, until the last days of August.
I'm not too bothered about knowing until it's happened. Don't get me wrong, I welcome the leap in technology since the "Green un", and watching the results through the telly shop window, were cutting edge, but I miss the element of surprise that used to surround a new signing.
Seems familiar, but I'm not sure if I can actually remember it or whether it's just because its "of its time" - if that makes sense?
Was early 90’s was big in the clubs around 1990 to 92 I was a fan of on u sound system and Adrian Sherwood
I followed the rumours on ceefax that related to Barnsley when we had just been promoted to the Premiership. That summer we we linked with we'll over 100 players.
