MacDonald was quality in patches last season more often than not as well, Alfie Mawson is the best central defender to play at the club for a few years, but he had a bad spell whilst captain, really struggled if I recall correctly, I don’t think he could cope with the pressure it brought at such a young age, once he was released of the duty his form picked back up, I think Angus maybe having the same troubles.
I don't see any adequate cover. What do we do if Lindsay gets injured tomorrow ? and with our luck he probably will .
tomorrow?? we should be going for players like elphick to get us through rest of the season. we could use the MacDonald cash to pay his wages and do some serious business in summer
I meant tomorrow as in training just like Pinnock did . So if McDonald goes we've got 2 fit centre halves and one of them is makeshift. Are you happy with that ?
McDonald was brilliant in his first year. This year he has been sidelined through illness. Would rather support him and hope he gets back to his best as we have seen that his best is top class.
if MacDonald goes it wouldn't make no difference cos he ain't even fit himself so what's the difference. and if he's been sold I expect there's something happening on incomings what we don't know about
money talks. just like it did when all fans were buzzing we are billionaires. but even still. every player, club and business have their price
Well they’ve apparently made a second bid, inferring that the first was turned down. Until we hear different whatever our valuation of Angus is, Hull haven’t met it. I still think it’s a mistake to sell to a rival and I’m not sure we should be letting him go at all. Fit and functioning he’s a good player
I'm not saying he is bad mate. I just think there are better players at the club. and what did we pay for him? about 100k?? iron deficiency can keep returning. he's been q good ambassador and done some brilliant work in the community and made himself really popular. but they sound keen and they probably offering him more money. I think it's good business all round
If he’s not close to the side and Hecky doesn’t think he’d be missed then 7 figures is good business. But not to a team two points and two places below us.
I'm not sure. 18 months I think. I don't think it matters where they are in the table. I don't think he'll play again for rest of the season with what he's got
It makes business sense to move him on. He signed a contract extension on improved terms as a proven championship defender so logic would say he’s our top earning centre back yet he’s probably only 4th choice. So it makes sense to move him on & get some money for him that can be reinvested in the squad. Hate to be so blunt about it but it’s the way we’re run. We were happy to sell our Barnsley born club captain & first choice centre back in the summer in keeping with the strategy so there’s no room for sentiment. As long as there’s a replacement lined up it makes perfect sense
