....why do people describe it as 'embarrassing', 'a joke'. 'a laughing stock' and such? There's nothing embarrassing about not coming to an agreement that works for both parties. It just 'is'. I'd love us to sign a bunch of superstars who will propel us to the prem and beyond. But is it doesn't happen my club and the decision makers within it are not a joke. It's just not happened, that's all. Maybe I'm just not as good a fan as some of you chaps on here. I simply can't get hot under the collar about it.
Spot on and it’s not as though we’d heard owt abart em , they’ll stay in the oblivion from whence they came imo
There's probably a fair bit of hyperbole flying around but to me the disappointment and possible 'embarrassment' comes from the fact we appear to trail players for a good length of time, spend ages negotiating and then they turn us down when the hard work appears to be done. Yes, that is the players' decision but it does make you wonder how these deals drag on without a decisive finish.
Maybe so but if they had signed and someone said who is this ******* no mark, you’d have **** thi pants
I've never taken it like that, more embarrassed for us a club - no doubt spend weeks negotiating with a club, they eventually allow us to speak to the player, player comes to Oakwell then doesn't fancy it for whatever reason...probably money. I'd imagine rather than a big wage we offer them the chance to attract bigger English teams, using the John Stones example (even though time has passed and that is wearing a bit thin now), that might work for some kid in League 2 but probably not someone who is already playing at a decent level.
Correct this is the reason. Why does it take us days and days to get to a point where they turn us down on the last day when we are then left with no other options I assume. That’s why I don’t agree with posters saying be patient etc, we should either get them done or move on. Don’t mind missing out on players but why now at the last minute? Ridiculous.
Maybe the club are courting a number of players at once, and have a priority on them, if knausmuller was priority 1 and it looks like he is signing they aren’t as willing to push the boat out on 2 and 3 (the french lads) or actually decide they don’t need them? I guess they have to edge their bets but in reality don’t want to sign all 3? Maybe?
True. Klassen at everton was set move but failed ay lst thing. Can be any number of reasons not necessary the club
Id say that both the French lads that turned us down thought they were going to be more well off than actually materialized.... Who cares, watch the door doesn't hit you in the ar5e on the way out..
