    I was of the understanding that you could only sign a pre-contract agreement with a team from a different FA? There’s nothing to stop him from being tapped up of course but he would just leave on a free like Watkins and Scowen.

    As soon as you enter the last 6 months you are free to talk to and sign pre contract etc

    Abroad, no? I didn’t think that Yiadom for example was free to agree pre-contract terms with another English club.

    I’ve just had a look myself, I think I’m wrong to be honest. Weird one, we might have signed Yiadom on a pre-contract come to think of it, unless he just turned Barnet down, ran his contract down and signed for us, just like Watkins and Scowen. I’m not up to date with all the FA rules and regs to be honest.

    Only thing ive found is something to do with being 24 or over.

    Ie the compensation. But nowt to suggest restriction on who you can sign for

    It is abroad only as far as I know for pre contract. Not that deals can't be done.

    If we’d have sold him we’d have got not much more than £1m with how long he had remaining on his contract.

    But if he plays his part in keeping us up & leaves for nothing in the summer then not only is it worth about £6m in revenue but we’ll also get more money as a championship club than a league one club selling any other players such as Lindsay & Bradshaw
