People convienently forget about his influence in paul heckingbottoms success i reckon. Its no coincidence that weve steadily gotten worse after his dismissal and the dismantling of the team he had influence over as well as PH. He was the older, experienced head that put PH straight for me, Jamie Clapham is just heckies mate and it shows.
Tommy Wright is a ******** who was trying to encourage our players to leave in order to feather his own nest. We will never know how much influence that *beep* had in six of our players handing in a transfer request last January. Maybe just maybe hecky started finding it harder to get wins after the squad was decimated rather than after the crook left. As for Clapham being ''just heckys mate" there is no evidence at all to suggest that is the case. None of us see what advice he gives or what he does on the 164 hours a week that we don't see him.
Barnsleys Stats dont lie regardless of the circumstances of TW's dismissal. Any other manager would have been given the boot by now. Todays team selection was shocking, far too defensive with mcburnie and mallan on the bench, the really sad part is PH continues to pick bad starting 11's week after week this season. What the bloody hell was williams doing in the centre mid for mallan? very very worrying times....If narsmuller isnt straight in the side against the piggies then it should signal that hecky really is losing the plot!
You are right the stats don't lie Stats: Hourihane (Captain) sold Winnall (top scorer) sold Roberts (captain) sold Bree sold Scowen released Watkins released They're great stats aren't they
He was also a bent lovely person. I'd rather be non league than have people like that associated with our club
Mostly a myth Just looking at results with him still in place He was sacked on 29th September 2016. Our record at that point was 5 wins, 5 defeats and 1 draw. 1.45 ppg After he was cleared out our record was 10 Wins, 14 Defeats, 14 draws 1.15 ppg On the face of that you’d say his departure had a huge impact but if you further break the 38 games into pre and post Jan you get 8 wins 7 Defeats 6 Draws 1.43 ppg I’d say it’s clear that the loss of the players was obviously much worse That said, I’ve no idea if Clapham is any good or not
I've heard this point about Tommy a couple of times but people forget that he was at the club during two separate baron spells under LJ. The key point is that had he acted properly he would still be at the club.
We had this when Keith hill was on his way out. It always appears to be the number two that drove success and the man in charge was simply along for the ride. How about considering that this man is expected to deliver while constantly fighting having his resource taken away.
And where have i challenged the loss of a playoff squad? nowhere. I was as gutted as the next man. We will never know if Wrights departure in September had he not been a silly, greedy chap could have halted our dramatic slide down the table and our struggle since the beginning of this season with lower league players but he did have a massive influence on the side that got sold away for me. This is purely my opinion which as usual, goes against the happy clappy crowd. This board is meant to be about different opinions, i'm sorry im not a happy clapper and have my own views on our squads demise, tough titty.
It’s all well and good having an option but it’s not borne out by the statistics unless you think results could have been better had he remained post the sell off. The results show that there was a small decrease in ppg post his departure but a huge one post end of Jan
That’s the fun of the debate. We’ll never know either way but as a ‘happy clapper’ I can tell you now I value your opinion - I just disagree with it.
If it were the case why would it be convienant to forget? I have no blind loyalty to Hecky I just don't see him as the reason we are struggling. Football is often very simple, the teams with the better players seem to do better.
Load of rubbish. Tommy Wright was LeeJay's mate, so why were we absolutely awful when he was asissting LJ? Clapham has been there and done it with 400+ appearances at this level and above, he's plenty of experience to help Hecky out. Although i do agree Hecky could do with another man in to focus on the more attacking aspects of our game, as Hecky and Clapham were both defenders during their playing career.
Ah, but as you know, its blasphemy on here to critique the manager, you get instantly chastised. I just think to talk about Barnsleys success in league1/promotion and then run to Jan 17 and it all being down to PH is totally blinkered. Id rather examine possible reasons for PHs shocking points ratio since the management team that was changed and offer that as being a part of our current dilemma.
It’s perfectly valid to examine reasons for poor form but it’s absolutely clear that the reason is losing good players and replacing wi ***** ones
Whatever strength your argument might have had was diminished by your 'happy clapper' cop-out. You got a considered response to your comments and when you thought you weren't winning the argument resorted to insults. Pity.
