Kevin Nolan. Started out with an impossible task at Leyton Orient, Now doing well Notts County.. I know he only signed a new 3 yr deal in Sept 2017 but hey Hecky signed one a few days ago and left! Plus the compo we get for Hecky should be well enough to compensate Notts County. Failing that, stick to my original choice in Clough.
Just said same thing on another post. He was a grafter and played at top level, and done really well in league 2 so shows he can work with players with less ability. Two Germans out of work intrigue me, Hanns Wolf sacked at Stuttgart and Marcus Babbel. Babbel's got a 43% win ratio, he helped rebuild Hertha Berlin and other than his spell at Hoffenheim has had a good career up to now. Speaks English understands our approach to the game, but does he have the ability to turn it around for us. He's got the pedigree and surely the players would look up to him.
If we're going after recently-retired-prem-players .......................... I stand by my suggestion of Paul Scholes.
"A bit of coaching" at MANCHESTER UNITED versus 2 brothers who have done reasonably well at Lincoln I'm glad I don't have to make the decision, but it would be Scholes all day for me. Would be a massive boost to the younger ones at the club and give a lift to the fans. He's done it all, seen it all - let's see what he can bring to the table.
Ah, I was more comparing him to say Clough with loads of managerial experience or Nolan who has cut his teeth.. Think the Lincoln fellas are probably too much of a risk, especially to instantly earn the players respect.
Out of work German coaches, then Jens Keller could be an option. Sacked by Union Berlin out of the blue (4th in 2nd division at the time...been in freefall since), 50% win rate and managed (though not too successfully) in the top division.
Possibly...Keller lost 3 home games in his time there (17)..his replacement has equalled that since coming December (lost first 3 home games I think)
