There was never a better celebration and there probably never will be. RIP Steve Cooper.

I fondly recall we didn't count the 7,000 pink panthers in the crowd that night, 21,000 crowd my arse! ;-)

I’ve still got a pink panther in the loft. Swapped it for a Harry the Haddock left behind by a Grimsby fan on the train that I had randomly taken with me.

Football really can't compete with that time can it?

RIP Steve Cooper. This is my third favourite Barnsley team. Still a million miles better than our current one, but that is the times, not a go at current management. If the new owners can make us anywhere near the fighting force we were back then, it will be a miracle. Bournemouth, Burnley & Huddersfield are there though, so it's not impossible,

First time I ever stood up at a match. Exhilarating and scary in equal measures. My dad spent the whole match with my 7 year old brother on his shoulders, bricking it that he was going to drop him when we scored!

Laughing at this. Not surprised either, there were parts of the Ponty End where we were jammed in like sardines that night, and the surges when we scored were something else. Does anyone else remember the chant of 'You can shove yer f*cking panthers up yer *rse'?

A fine Barnsley side, at a time before money, greed, agents, and Sky ultimately ruined football as a sport. RIP Steve lad, and thanks for the memories.

Wasn't at that game but went to Stoke for the first match in which we were robbed of victory by a poorly positioned linesman. I was stood by the corner flag on the goal line and the ball never got near crossing the line.....

That would be the game with the "No 10, Red Hot Currie" shirts. Remember the blinding Neville Southall save from a long range Paul Futcher shot?
