Spose your gonna tell us Danny went on a secret mission to the continent dressed as Marlena Deitrich to sign this wonder kid everybody had been raving about . Then Danny unveiled his shining armour and whisked him to his dream club to unveil him lol

It’s an opinion but it also doesn’t address the issue. I thought you were a WUM initially and I think that you’ve confirmed it now.

Wilson is a happy memory from the first time.
A qualified failure the second time.
If he's here a third time I'll be looking forward to third tier football at best.
The choice of new manager is a difficult one.

I'd say anyone over the age of 40 would be 100% Mick. A man I'd back my house on keeping us up.

There are a whole bunch of runners & riders that look OK, but would not have that impact, unless a real box office name was brought in, like Jol or Mclaren. Doubt we'd have the money for them & their back office.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head there, JP. It’s about so much more than appointing one individual. It’s a managerial/coaching staff that’s required.

What issue? I have no issue.

Arjan is the best CB we’ve ever had. Barnard, Ward, Tommo, Wilko, Marcelle, Hendrie. Danny knew a good player when he saw one.

Can’t see why you’d be so against his appointment. No one better to get the fans going.

You said Danny knew a good signing when he saw one. I pointed out the massive nightmare that Danny and the club by their own admission had during the summer of 1997.

Oakwell was hardly bouncing during Danny’s second stretch at gaffer.

He made more good signings than bad ones! At least a 3:1 good to bad ratio which is excellent.

Inherited a team of Flitcroft scallops second time round that were always destined to be relegated. He laid the foundations for our promotion from league one. Johnson took all the credit for Danny’s hard work.

Director of traffic would be more apt, I cannot believe anyone would want him back again, having watched the Reds for 57 years, with out a doubt his last few months before they sacked him was the most turgid boring dross I ever saw , & this was from a man who walked out us on the eve of a season to go to Wednesday, Judas !

Hmmm, in part. There's some fabulous memories from that season. However, he made some atrocious signings before the start of that season, we took some hammerings and he didn't exactly demonstrate he'd got to grips with the premiership when he went to Wednesday either.
Given your new, "sack em after ten games" approach he'd have been gone by late November. ;)

Some of the best free flowing attacking football i’ve ever seen that 96-97 season.

Now don't get me wrong, I agree he brought us our finest hour but he's hardly a Mourinho or Wenger is he.

His overall combined BFC win percentage is awful. If he did sign excellent players as you suggest then surely that’s proof in itself that he didn’t have the requisite coaching ability that his successors had who got the best out of Hourihane, Scowen and Winnall, etc.

Flitcroft kept us up with an absolutely abysmal team following Hill’s departure. We were destined to be relegated that season but we survived the drop.

Danny isn’t all he’s cracked up to be. It’s rose tinted glasses again, imho.

I liked De Zeeuw. He isn’t the best centre back I’ve seen though. For us, he was good but no better than the likes of Morgan and Foster who came after him.

Tha what? From you? Don’t think so.

De Zeeuw was a great player - but he wasn’t even the best centre half in the promotion team until Davis got injured.

There have been a few better. Many more worse, granted.
