Seen bits and bobs from last two Birmingham games and he's just wandering around the penalty area at times. Not bossing strikers and not attacking the ball. What the heck happened to him?
Beginning to look like many other players we’ve had over years that only looked decent here. Sad really. Still to this day I think we shouldn’t have sold him. However in hindsight it appears we made a tremendous profit on him.
It isnt, its ******* brilliant. Evening the Ponty darling Hourihane will be surplus to requirements when they've won promotion.
Did Roberts make MacDonald look better than he was, thats another question I keep seeing and hearing from us. He went to Brum under the Harry Redknapp regime and I bet his head was turned, and I cant blame him for that etc. But if we end up sending him and them down instead, then its his own fault, theres no sympathy at all from me.
Yes and hes entitled to lol. What Im saying is move on now, Im not harking back to ohh I wish he/Roberts was still here now etc.
Good centre half but limited. In a winning side his purely defensive, no nonsense skills are a blessing. In a struggling side those same skills get lost because without support he appears just like an old-fashioned centre half part of a poor defence. He's unfortunate on that he joined a Birmingham side that have bombed this season.
Yeah. We're at the start of a new era now, no desire to go back in for ex players unless they are of the same or better quality. The only one that worked out with was Hammill.
At derby last season too, Matty James headed one in. They were pretty rubbish other than those 2 examples. Just headed away by the opposition every time.
Marc Roberts is hands down better than any of our current defenders. We’d have been far better with him in the team than we are without him.
The Brum fans comments reflect my thoughts about him pretty much. Good header of the ball. Threw his body in the way of close range shots now and then. Good partner for Angus. Long throws mostly just giving the ball away, like most of our short ones. A good Third tier defender but no better. Like others before him - Tiler, Flinders etc - we did good business selling him for more than he was worth.
Yep. Good player for us. Scored 4 goals last season as well. Good in the air, very quick on his feet and wasn't a out and out hoofer. Played well in a good team for us, and struggling in a poor team at Birmingham. You can't ask the center half to be the solution to all your problems when he's surrounded by mediocrity. It's like our current defence. They're ok, but the midfield and forwards don't profit from their hard work, and if they concede a goal per game were just not going to win because we're so poor in the final 3rd.
