Booed whenever he touched the ball and had chants of "******, ******" shouted at him. The booing was predictable pantomime, but I thought those chanting were out of order. Whatever his faults, he always gave 100% effort when on the pitch for us.
Some of our lot just boo and wind up everybody, ex players or not, we've always done it and it usually ends up with them scoring and rubbing it in.
Agree with you , for me , booing players especially from your own side, is a pointless exercise , as for Gus , sad to see him go as he had come from non league & turned into a championship defender, who even when not at his best always gave his all
